After trying a few disposables, I bought a Blu rechargeable kit from the local Walgreens. After a few days with it, I gave up. Waaay too frustrating - Not enough vapor to satisfy my cravings, the tiny batteries and the performance of the carts dropped noticeably after only an hour. Went back to analogs. Tried Chantix for 3 months without success.
I got something from my Blu experience though - A hint of the potential of these devices. "Maybe", I thought, "with a bigger battery and a more efficient liquid delivery system, we'd have something that would actually work."
I did some Googling, found this place, and discovered eGo-class devices. The Halo Triton had an active fan club, so that's what I ordered. I had admittedly high hopes. After just a few hits, I was like "Finally, that's it! I can use this to quit!!!". Better flavor and vapor than any of the cigalikes I'd tried. I trashed what was left of my Camel Lights, and I haven't even had a desire to take a hit off of an analog since that day.
To answer the OP's question, yes, more vapor production helped me quit. Having a reliable device (with a backup) helped me quit too, as well as having a couple of flavors that I couldn't put down. I soon learned to build my own coils, and removed the last frustration of getting dud or poorly-performing coils at no small expense.
I've upgraded my hardware, but this was a personal choice, rather than a necessity to stay off analogs. I was intensely curious as to what else was out there, and I wished to try everything (most of it, anyway). But I know many people who are still on eGo-class devices that they quit analogs with, and they're happy. All the power to them, I say!
Most around here will recommend an eGo-class device as a bare minimum to individuals who wish to quit analogs. I'd generally agree, with the caveats that time and effort be spent on finding some killer flavors that you crave, and also that the device be set up and functioning properly. There is considerable variation in eGo-class devices - some will just work better and last longer than others.
I've personally witnessed individuals quit as soon as they got their starter kits. I've also personally witnessed people take up to a year to be completely free from analogs. Raising the nicotine in the liquid may help those who get impatient, as may WTA liquids (I have no experience here, but others have found it extremely helpful). Bigger clouds from a more powerful device will provide a bigger nicotine hit, and may help someone break free from analogs.
