Just try the VG and see if it helps. I have been vaping 2 years and still get a negative reaction if I vape something with too much PG. I seem to be able to enjoy some flavors that are 30-40% PG, but even then I have to alternate with a 100% VG flavor or my throat gets irritated.

Also I notice on the times I have switched from smoking (I had two smoking relapses in the last 2 years) to vaping I tend to cough a little more the first day. The vapor is just different than smoke, and maybe since it is moist it starts to loosen crap in the lungs and stimulate coughing. But this goes away. Tell him to take slower, smaller drags until his lungs adjust.

Oh, yeah...and he needs to make sure he has a beverage to sip while vaping, and needs to drink plenty of water.

Thank you. I'm going to order the 100 percent vg since he does fine during the day and only at night and mornings he coughs I just thought maybe he wasn't smoking it right. I have never had that problem except for when I get to big of a hit off of it. I tried vg once but it just wasn't very flavorful but maybe it will work for him.

If you are going to try 100% VG, I would recommend Alien Visions. Maybe some Boba's Bounty. There is flavor there. It is thick juice though, which may be difficult to manage at first.

When I made the change, I coughed for a few days. I wasn't much of a cougher before though, so I attribute this to stopping analogs.

Some people who are allergic to PG seems to break out in rashes and what not. When I vape high PG juices, my throat feels it. May be a sensitivity.

I coughed for 2 weeks solid when I first started vaping, so bad at night I couldn't sleep. I had quit analogs at the same time, so wasn't sure it was from PG, being a new vapor or the healing cough from quitting. I switched to 80/20 vg/pg thinking it was the pg doing it and the coughing quickly went away. About a week later, I tested with just pg again, and the cough did not come back, which seems to mean it was caused from quitting smoking or just starting out vaping or both. If he's still smoking, but smoking a lot less, that could contribute to some of it. I'm new at this and don't know much except what I experienced. It would be easy enough to test with using just vg to see if stops the problem. Once he stops smoking totally, expect coughing again for a few weeks no matter what he vapes. It's a miserable time to go through with a terrible cough, but if you can get to the other side, it is worth every hacking moment along the way! :)
