So uh, I just picked up a Ody V2 and it should be here on Monday, I was browsing youtube for rebuilds on it....

Everyone is using NR Wired legs.

...

REALLY?!

Came into here and low and behold seems like everyone here is also using NR Wired legs...

Also, my co-workers all have Ithakas and Kayfuns, none of them use NR Wire, so I figured this wouldn't need it. However now I am reading otherwise. (Now I know why two of them ruined their insulators... :p)

Can someone please confirm on the NR Wire legs, I mean this section is so huge, running searches confuses me... This is literally a whole 'nother world of vaping... I am already confused as all hell on what an Ody is, I just know it's kinda rare and delivers supposedly an amazing vape.

I prefer dripping, clouds and SC or DC at 0.7Ω, sometimes in a 4/3 of K-A1 28 awg or even dual 9/8 wrap K-A1 28 awg. I guess i'll find out what's up when I get it...

Personally I think on the positive side it is definitely necessary, if for no other reason than the distance from the coil to the positive connection is so great ( roughly 3/4") you would Ohm out at 3+ Ohms and heat the wire where you wouldn't have any airflow.

You might be able to get away with none on the negative side if it were to ground out towards the top of the assembly.

With Ithaka you need at least 1 leg of NR wire. Otherwise you will risk melting the 0-ring that secures the posative wire and the plastic negative wire screw if it rests on it. Also the wire will heat all the way down the channel which can cause some off wicking issues.

With Ody you probably won't melt anything but it will raise your resistance by quite a bit. It can also cause some wicking issues and just isn't recommended.

On either you can get away with no nr wire on the negative side since it will make it's connection right where it touches the metal if it has good contact. I set my ody up like this all the time. I use 2 nr wires on my Iatty because while twisting can be annoying at times the setup is easier with it imho.

Kayfun IIRC has both connections at the top right next to the coil so no nr wire needed.

This is really depressing news... NR Wire isn't cheap... And I love rebuilding coils on a daily and sometimes several times a day...
100feet of NR pure nickel 32ga is $10 shipped. 20feet of NR 999 silver 29ga is $10 shipped. Both in ebay. Really affordable, certainly not "not cheap".

Do you need to use the same gauge NR-Wire as the normal resistance wire you're using?? example..

If i normall do 3 wraps (.9Ω) 28 gauge kanthal - do I need to be using 28 gauge NR-Nickle Wire? Any recommendations for all of those using 28 gauge kanthal on a regular basis?

Like is it better to use 32gaNR-Wire - 28ga Kanthal - 32gaNR-wire?

Not necessarily. I use thicker gauge 29 when using softer silver NR to resist breaking. For pure nickel NR, I use 32 gauge for easier twisting. Nickel is stiffer than silver so I find higher gauge nickel hard to twist.
