I have to say that for now anyway I fully agree with Sun. I had a terrible time taming all the wisps of poly fill both from toy or pillow stuffing and fish filter. Tiny pieces would stick to my atomizer and burn.

I had a rough time the fist time I tried tea bags. Now that I'm doing better with that method I can say for certain that my flavors are much more enjoyable with the tea bags. I believe the liquid wicks better with the tea bag than with polyester. I'm using a brand new cart with the original stuffing right now and it's still not as tasty as with the tea bag.

It likely comes down to personal preference and technique. I was a total fail with the polyester in both forms. Others swear by it.

Some people are doing great with napkins for filling. One lady (I'm sorry I forget who) is using tampon filling. Some are using analog filters. I haven't used the tampon idea but was again a total fail with the cig filter.

(erm sorry for the rambling)

How many refills can you do before needing to restuff the cart using tea bags?

I use the same strip of tea bag for a couple of days before re-stuffing. Once it starts to look a bit mushed up on the top it doesn't seem to take as much liquid. I'm a non-stop type vaper on a passthrough so it gets topped off a lot.

Hi Wilco,

What I have done is thanks to many other people's suggestions. I take a regular tea bag and cut the top off (the part with the staple). Dump the tea. The bag is folded in half so I unfold it, and cut a strip down the length of the bag. My strip is about 1/2" wide. I have a 901 so this width would fill the depth of my cart.

I use a plastic coffee/cocktail stirrer (someone here has used the ink cartridge of a pen). Holding the end of the tea bag strip I start to roll it around the stirrer. I roll it around once or twice, then lay both the stirrer and tea bag on a surface so that I can keep tension on the tea bag while I finish rolling the tea bag (like rolling up a carpet). I try to keep it rolled tightly (that makes it easier to insert into the cart). Once it's rolled fully I slide the tea bag down toward the end of the stirrer. Insert the stirrer into my cart and continue to slide the tea bag into the cart while sliding the stirrer out. With sharp scissors I snip off any tea bag that is taller than the cart. I then take something small like an unbent end of a paper clip to make sure that there is an opening in or near the center of the tea bag because sometimes the scissors will flatten the tea bag where it was cut.

I really hope that made sense! Good luck!

Jim, I'd be very curious to know who the steel wool works for ya!

Thanks for that Christina.
I heard about this, but was never sure how to go about it.
I will try it out tomorrow.

My poly has been annoying me.. sticking to the atty and coming completely out of the cart, just hanging there.
I also get that burnt taste sometimes, its horrible.

Ill let you know how it goes, and Im also very interesting in the steel wool attempt

Thanks for saying so Summer! I'd be curious to hear how the vaping goes for you!

Christina--I did my cartridge up with the tea bag just as you described and it is working out great!!!!! I have been vaping for over an hour now with it and is is awesome. No more polyester for me!!! Thanks for your well thought out explanation!!!

Total Newbie question here.... When you roll the 1/2" strip around the stir straw do you push it in the cart standing up like a roll filling out the cart or do you fold it in downward so the thick side of the roll (like a rolled carpet on its side) into the cart. I will try this if you further elaborate. And just in case, where would one get extra poly?

Thanks,

Milo

Any craft store, Joanne's etc, abot $5 to $10.00, enough to last you alife time, and that is the small bag.

I tried the tea bags without much luck, the tea bag seemed to suck up a lot of juice and not give it back. Maybe I am doing something wrong, wouldn't be the first time. :) I'm also wondering if anyone has tried the tea bag in an 801 cart (I was trying in a 901 the first time). The carts just seem too big for the tea bags.

I have been using fluval with great success on my end. Until I can decide if the tea bags will work (as they seem to for so many others), I'm going to stick with the fluval. LOL
