I have been having great luck with a strip of coffee filter paper rolled around a toothpick, then inserted into the cart. I can easily get many more drops of juice in the cart this way, as opposed to the polyfill. And, I am getting tons more vaper, too! I'm not sure why that would be, but I'm sure it's not my imagination. I'm using a 901.

Sun!!

good to see you still around :) i think we haunt different sections lately...hehe.

i really must try this tea bag method. was it ever decided which was "best" to use? or do any of them work? like...brand names i mean, so i don't buy something that will burn up and kill me?

Flitz--good to see you around my friend---yes they all work the same. Some have branched out to coffee filters as well. You need to really saturate the tea bags or the filters--but you are not filling anywhere as much. Give it a go!!!-------Sun

someone mentioned using napkins to fill the cartdriges. I am using a napkin to clean the cartdriges right now and I wonder if they would indeed be a good cartdrige filler. Won't they burn?

Well, I have no juice to fill yet. But I am preparing the cartdriges lol. I am not worried about damaging the attys since I'll be using my "Health E-Cigarette" from Deal Extreme to do the experiment.

Total Newbie question here.... When you roll the 1/2" strip around the stir straw do you push it in the cart standing up like a roll filling out the cart or do you fold it in downward so the thick side of the roll (like a rolled carpet on its side) into the cart. I will try this if you further elaborate. And just in case, where would one get extra poly?

Thanks,

Milo

Yes, I keep the roll standing up. That way you have a small hole in the middle of the cart with the tea bag rolled around the inner wall of the plastic cart.

I gotta mention that I didn't come up with this idea. I believe it was surbitonPete who deserves kudos for that. But I gotta say I am just tickled that I managed to help some people!

I tried the tea bags without much luck, the tea bag seemed to suck up a lot of juice and not give it back. Maybe I am doing something wrong, wouldn't be the first time. :) I'm also wondering if anyone has tried the tea bag in an 801 cart (I was trying in a 901 the first time). The carts just seem too big for the tea bags.

I have been using fluval with great success on my end. Until I can decide if the tea bags will work (as they seem to for so many others), I'm going to stick with the fluval. LOL

Hi Tamara,

I have found that the tea bags take a lot more liquid to saturate than the original filling, a lot. The plus side is I find I don't need to top off nearly as often, even using my passthrough.

I don't have an 801 so regrettably I can't help with that one.

I did just see an excellent video by grumpster that shows how to use Fluval with both a 901 and a penstyle. If the Fluval is working great for you I sure don't doubt it. I am going to try his method and compare.

    Hey -

I just tried both the coffee filter and the analog filter -
Both work GREAT ! - I am pretty sure that the coffee filter and tea bag are dam near the same thing - Seems like a better idea to not waste the tea -

The analog filter seems to work really well for me also in my KissBox - So well in fact that I wonder why they didn't just use these to begin with - Before a couple of weeks ago when I tossed out my tobacco - I made my own analogs with injector tubes - I have 3 boxes of them (600) left over - Now i know exactly what I'll use those for :)

All I had to do with the analog filter was peel off the paper and snip it a little bit to make it flush with the end of the cart - It fits perfectly and wicks like a charm- THANKS FOR THE TIP - I did not like the idea of smoking polyfoam -

Has anyone tried a cotton substance? I was thinking of using a cotton oil lamp wick - If wicking is what we are trying to achieve - Seems like a WICK would do well - I may give that a try after my 600 filters are used up - 2-3 years? I'll get back to you in 2012 LOL

Another thought that just now occured to me would be a wick from a Zippo - A fresh clean one of course - Don't yank the one coverd in lighter juice - These have a little wire in the middle and might transfer heat from the atomizer getting a better vape?

    Bones -

I have tried all the suggested methos, tea bags, coffee filters, new Poly, and a few others ideas I came up with but did not have good experiences with any of those methods.

After reading about the analog filters I took some filters from analog Virginia Slims I had left over from the old days, cut them up and put them into the cartridges of my Joye510 (manual battery), my DSE901 and my DSE801 and tried it.
I LOVE IT! Nice draws, no mess sticking to atomizer and no burned taste for a change!

I like the result so much that I searched on line for analog filters and found this place and ordered a bunch of analog filters from there:
Vaporizers, Hemp, Glass Pipes and 160+ Rolling Papers @ 1 Percent

RAW 100% Cotton Cigarette Filters bag/200

    Zen Superslim Cigarette Filters bag/200

    Swan Slim Filter Tips

    Thank you for the idea!

I wanted to try different filters, so since I could not order smaller quantities, I sure hope this method will continue to work well for me, LOL:p

    PS:
In my search I also found that one can buy these filters in MENTHOL FILTERS:D

My experience with Polyfil is absolutely great! It's weird to me when I read about stuffing sticking to atoms, vaporizing poly, etc...because I honestly suffer none of those calamities. Granted, I watched Terraphon's cart building seminar, and it's got everything you need to know about making the perfect stuffing. Wallyworld greenbag 3 bucks. A lifetime of vaping happily forever.

As a side note...I am quite positive that a couple thousand chinese stuffed these carts in trials for a long time to find the best stuffing for these things. They have teabags out the yingyang, but what do they use? Polyfil. It works, and works extremely well *IF* you can master the craft of stuffage. Just MHO. :)

I just took the filter from a Virginia Slim analog cigarette, took the paper layer off, laid it next to a filter from my e-cig to get the size I need, then cut the filter in the middle lenght wise for my cartridge, cut off the excess on top (made it a little shorter than the cartridge), put some juice on the bottom of the cartridge then stuffed the stuffing (LOL) into the cart, fluffed the filter up (spread it apart a bit) with a needle and filled it with more juice.

You may have to cut yours differently since the size depends on the kind of cartridge you use. I used 1/2 of one for a Joye510 cart and the other half for a DSE901 Pen style cart.

One thing though, some filters are made out of Cellulose Acetate Fibers (whatever that is) so I ordered these RAW 100% Cotton Cigarette Filters to use. I will use my Virginia Slim Analog filters until I get the ordered ones.

Hope this help...I am still fairly new at this vaping also, LOL

    PS:
Here is another good, easy method to try

I tried the analog filter. It held a lot of fluid. I thought it was great for about 6 hits, after that is was a no go, lots of fluid in the filter and it started tasting burnt. I pulled it out and it was definitely turning a shade of brown on top, just like when you smoke an analog.
I let my husband try it with the analog filter (since Im a bit jaded, I read too much on here ) he said it didnt seem better than his original cart and the drag was not as smooth.

I also tried the straw method and hole in the cart method. They both seemed great at first. The straw is a pain in the ..... The hole leaks fluid no matter where you put it on the cart.

I know I wont be trying tampon, like another user said - Toxic Shock Syndrome 8-o

I like reading all the experiments. I will try the fluval when I get a chance to go to the store. For now I'm sticking with the polyfil.

I dont know from where are you people using tea bag paper or coffee filter, but if you can find a paper filter supplier, It will be cheaper than both of them. That supplier will have a lot of kinds of paper filters that you can buy in sheets, so you do not have to tear apart your tea bags or coffee filters.

Also, there are paper filters that can resist high temperatures without burning when dry, so they can resist even higher temperatures when wet.

    Just an idea.
