Thank you all soooo very much! Great info to get me headed in the right direction! The photo listed above is exactly what I bought. Just heard my car will be fixed tomorrow (in VA Beach), so I can actually get the product out of my trunk and see it for myself. Debating whether to go back to the mall kiosk with the receipt and try to get a refund or just go with it for now. I do think, since this is MY idea...not his, he would like something that is as close as possible to 'analogs'. I like that what I bought looks like a cigarette and that you don't have to push a button to make it work. I even like that the color of the 'fire' is realistic, and I think that will make it easier on him. I'm expecting some resisitance. He has a STRONG addiction, and has been at it for about 45 years! He knows how badly I hate smoking, and he really has no desire to quit! But y'all make it sound so enticing, it makes ME want to try it! I think the hardest thing will be trying to hold out until Christmas to give it to him!

I have the same problem with waiting till christmas to give gifts LOL.

It cant hurt to return the product. I get his feedback on the idea of an e-cig before buying one. And try to find a model that addresses his concerns. They may be differant than your own.

Things like:
Battery life (how long between charges)
Flavor
Weight
Manual or Automatic
Asthetic (perhaps he does not want one that looks like a cigarete. Originally i thought i did, but then i saw the eGo. That just looked very sharp to me.)
How fast can you get replacement parts
How fast can you get additional fluid
Is it going to break on me after a week.

There are many things to ask, to see how he feels about it.

This is really an exciting product, and you shouldnt feel like you need to step on egg shells when aproaching it. Let him know what you learned and how all of us really enjoy these much more than we do the analogs. And you would like to get one from him but wanted his feedback on what to get. What his concerns are.

Honestly, the flavor bit really sunk me. The fact that these just tase better than analogs was a very convincing arguement. Strangely enough it was much more persuasive than health concerns... I'm not too sure how i feel about admitting that... But anything to help another smoker become an exsmoker.

You know the old saying "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink."

Do the best you can to get him to at least try it, even if he balks in the beginning trying it out is usually an eye opener.

Here are some facts to help you convince him to at least try it:

50% of us are men
most of us are in our 40's and 50's
50% of us thought e-cigs would work, but...
35% of us thought it wouldn't work (but tried it anyway)
83% of us quit smoking completely using e-cigs
16% of us cut back on our smoking
16% of us had smoked between 20-25 years
47% of us had smoked for more than 25 years

I'm betting that he's not so different from the rest of us. Most of us thought, "I'm( ___ )years old and been smoking for( ___ )years. I've tried to quit a million different ways and none of them worked. I really have just given up - after all these years, I don't think I can even quit - and to be honest I don't really want to quit! My wife/husband/kids/grandkids want me to quit, I just don't want to die."

But now here we are; 83% of us did end up quitting and 16% of us ended up cutting back. It really can work!

Good Luck! :)

Very interesting statistics! Okay, you all know what I bought. I just ordered a 10 bottle sample of juices from VS Vapor (50ml altogether of 36mg nicotine). Now I'm in it to the tune of $250! Question: Can he use these juices to refill the cartridges that came with the original Deluxe Kit? My kit is shown at:
Deluxe Starter Kit
plus I got a dozen or so 24mg cartridges. In other words, if I'm/he's stuck with what I've already paid for, will it be enough to keep him going for a month or so???? Thanks again!

Yes, it should be more than enough.

read the following at your own risk: I'm not familiar with your model, but this info is generally standard for most e-cigs:

There are a few ways to refill the cartomizers that you have (the website calls them cartridges, but because they have a built in atomizer they are actually cartomizers - just to clarify).

#1. Assuming they come with rubber caps on each end (that's pretty standard) you SHOULD be able to do it this way: YouTube - Basic Refilling for Vapor4Life Cartomizers

#2. You can drip the juice in the hole in the battery end (the end that screws onto the battery) one-by-one. It's more time consuming, but it works.

#3. If the end of your cartomizer comes off pretty easily, you can pop it off with a bend paper clip and drip juice into the inside of the carto from the mouth end (the end you suck on), just drip it down the sides while turning the carto so you get juice on all the sides of the filler inside, pop the end back on and you are good to go.

#4. You can use a syringe to fill them. Some people find this scary, but if you are careful it's not that big of a deal. It's not like you have to shoot the stuff up or anything - it's more like using one of those measuring things that comes with infant medication (but with a needle on it):) like this:YouTube - Electronic Cigarette How To Refill a Cartomizer

This is funny - the Smoking Anywhere site's cartos don't come in anything higher than 12mg and they are calling that "High" ???

But she bought them at the mall and they had 24mg ones there... so unless it ends up being too high (this is a real concern despite his level of addiction you just never know...) it should be just fine.

Not to totally confuse the issue of what you bought, lol, but i think their photos are wrong. Their battery is clearly a female, indicating it is almost certainly a 4081. However, looking at their cartomizer picture next to it, those appear to be also females... Obviously one of the pictures is wrong...as you can't connect two females ... (no wise comments please...;))

EDIT: Once you get it out you will know what it is. No biggie.

Well, just got bad news in the car department. Now, it's not going to be repaired until Monday or Tuesday, and it's going to cost $900 more than they quoted me! Seems I'm getting screwed (monetarily) every time I turn around! UGHHHH!! Anyway, male or female cartridges and batteries...I can't look until I get the e-cig stuff out of the trunk, which is 3 hours away. About VG and PG, I think I read that someone purchased a really big bottle of one or the other at their local drug store. Is this stuff used for another purpose, and do you know if it can be bought anywhere locally? (without ordering and shipping charges)

I will let someone else that knows chime in on that... but I know people buy a form of VG from Walmart. The thing is, it is flavorless. They mix it. What it is intended for, i forget. Cosmetics, i think... but not sure.

Bummer about the car thingy. Well, if your husband uses the ecig you will be able to buy a new car compared to the money currently spent...

My personal suggestion is not to present it to him as a way to quit - but rather something similar with better taste, convenience, something...to maybe use once in a while for fun. Smokers are funny that way... ANYTHING you tell many long time smokers is a device to quit they will get very bullheaded... My Dad is like that...they are sick and tired of having people tell them to quit and put up a total wall because of that...just sayin..

EDIT: For example, if I bought an EGo for my Dad and said... hey, use this instead of smoking - he would immediately throw it in the trash. However, if i said, hey, here is something to use down at the coffee shop as smoking is now banned... he might use it. Then may like it a lot - and use it a lot...

Is he allowed to smoke everywhere in the house? Tell him this is one that he can use in the house (or your car, or your bedroom, wherever it is that he's not allowed to smoke).

We like to think of e-cigs as an alternative brand - just present it as an alternative brand that tastes really good, comes in all sorts of flavors, people seem to really love them, you can adjust the nicotine level however you like, etc, etc.....oh yeah... and they won't kill ya'. Don't (whatever you do) present it as a quit smoking tool, that'll make him run for the hills. :)

I certainly believe y'all are right about the presentation! This gift is as much (or more!) for me as for him. Right now he smokes on the screeened porch, but he keeps that a huge mess with overflowing ashtrays and the fabrics stink of cigarettes! He pulls over at service stations to smoke when we are in the car with him. He smokes up the car when he's driving alone. Before the kids were born, he smoked in the house...and everything stayed filthy. I had a chronic cough all the time, including my pregnancy. When I showed him the statistics on SIDS in smoking households, he agreed to take it outside. So, yes, I think the enticement he needs would be to bring it back inside....particularly as the weather cools down! Frankly, I can't stand to even smell it on his clothes...his breath...his hands...his hair. LOTS of things should improve if he makes this change!!
