I'm using TFA coconut, pineapple, and ripe banana flavorings in my mostly VG juice, which contains PG based nic.

I wonder what is causing my polycarbonate tanks to crack? Maybe they're just stress cracks, as they radiate outward from the filler screw, but if something is etching the plastic tank, I want to know about it so I can eliminate it.

Thanks

I've had banana flavored juice crack polycarbonate tanks. Here's the damage that Plume Room Banana Pudding did to my nano tank:

TFA Ripe Banana contains alcohol will wreck o-rings as well.

I'll defer to your judgement and experience, although alcohol is no friend to rubber in general.

TFA Ripe Banana has expanded the rubber in my syringes and wrecked them too. That's why I moved to glass syringes.

I soak coils with o rings in 99% isopropyl with mix of water. O rings are made from silicone, not same as polycarbonate plastic. Just an FYI.

There are 2 Basic ways you can Stop what is Happening to you.

1 - Don't use Flavorings which Crack or Craze (Etch) Polycarbonate. This can be Kinda Tough because there is a Long List of Flavorings that will do this.

2 - Use a Tank Material that is more Chemically Stable like Polypropylene or Glass. This is the Preferred choice. But Unfortunately, many Tanks rely on threads being cut into the Tube Body. And you Can't form threads very well in a Material like Polypropylene or Glass. Or there just aren't any Polypropylene or Glass Tank Bodies available for the OEM's original design.

If it was me, I would look for a New Tank Set-up that Offered Polypropylene or Glass as a Tank Body. Either from the OEM or from a 3rd Party.

Where, may ask, do you get glass syringes? :vapor:{other than crazy expensive antique ones on eBay}

If you steep for a week at least you wont have tank cracking issues with stronger flavors. I and my friends vape every flavor under the sun including anise in plastic tanks/rocket, kayfun, russian (clones, real ones whatever) etc.. and have no issues. When they are first mixed the flavor is much more intense then once it has a chance to steep. You can also leave the caps off for the really potent flavors like Banana and Anise to help get the solvents to dissipate quicker.

I'm not so sure about all That?

I have some Cinna-Bomb that seems to be about to Crack ANY Polycarbonate. But then Again, I haven' dealt with much Polycarbonates since the Early Clearos hit the Scene.

It would be Interesting to do some Experiments with "Steeped" e-Liquids. And to see if Indeed there is an Time Effect on Cracking and or Ester Formation.

I haven't made any hot cinnamon type juice (TFA Red Hot Alc & PG were horrible) worth a salt as of (FW Fire and Ice is on order) YET. But I get some sometimes from a buddy who sells a ton of it (very intense stuff likely CAP or FW flavoring) to local vape shops who resell it. Most of his personal customers are using T3S or Evod style tanks. All his juice steeps for a week to a month minimum before he will sell a single drop. And I test all my own mixes for many days in a Rocket with a poly clear tank or Evod clone.

I do make a pluid type with anise @ 3% that etched through an iclear30 tank of mine when first mixed. Now I have a friend who vapes the same juice (same batch in fact) all day in the cheapest of cheap $2 H2's or Ce4's without issue. And another buddy has vaped the same juice in his iClear30 without issue. I concluded therefore after much mixing/steeping.. that steeping with tank crackers is not optional it's required and the longer it steeps the less chance of tanks cracking. So from my finding it's not simply the flavor itself which is doing the cracking.

Very Interesting.

I have some Cinna-Bomb e-Liquid that is about a Year Old. And some Cinnamon Flavorings. Might have to do a little Inhouse Testing when I get some Extra Time.
