WELCOME TO THE ECF

I don't think you have anything to worry about. Since it won't effect you if you have pneumonia or not. Also, nicotine is mostly absorbed in the mouth.

EDIT: misread your post. How would you get fluid in your lungs from vaping? Unless you over drip or feed your atomizer/cartomizer and don't spit it out. Then there's no way that'll happen.

I'm just curious since doesn't having fluid in your lungs cause pneumonia?
Well, if that was the case you'd get pneumonia every time you had a shower as well or went into a steam room or ventued out into the mist.

It's a legit concern as it's something you know was a liquid at first you're heating but then so is steam from the shower.

As far as I know no one's got pneumonia from vaping yet.

I'm not a doctor or scientist (definately not a biologist) but I thought I read that vg and pg particles aren't big enough to stay in your lungs or they're too big... one or the other lol. In either case any particles of pg would actually help reduce the risk of peneumonia as it's a germacide and the most common way to get pneumonia is from germs in your lungs and not liquids.

It's not a dumb question at all :D if you're worried at all, ask away and put your mind at ease right?

Another way to stealth vape doesn't involve holding it in; blow the vapour out through a paper towel or through your sleeve. I mean, press the fabric or cloth tight against your mouth and exhale as normal. If you do it with a paper towel you'll see it's a little wet where you breathed out and there's going to be no visible vapour.

You also absorb nicotine from the mucus in your mouth so if you want you can hold most of the vapour just in your mouth and inhale much later with much less vapour visible.

If you use a lot of pg the time you'll need to hold your breath for is a lot less time than if you have any vg in there.

I can't say for sure, not having done a study on the subject, but I'll draw on my nursing knowledge to answer as best I can.

To answer only your subject line: no idea. It might be. Certainly it can dry out your lungs, which could cause issues if you don't stay hydrated. But as confident as I am about vaping being "safer", I have no evidence to back up jack squat.

I wouldn't worry about pneumonia though. Technically, pneumonia isn't caused by fluid in the lungs. Too much fluid in the lungs could provide a nice breeding ground for bacteria, thus making you much more likely to develop pneumonia, or contaminated fluid could definitely cause an infection. E-juice, probably not so much. PG acts as a mild antiseptic, and condensed vapor probably isn't going to make much fluid in the first place. VG however, as well as any sugar based sweetener, could feasibly provide nutrition for bacteria, so I suppose it's possible to increase your risk. I just doubt it. Again, though, no evidence based research can back me up on that, so remember that this is only my opinion.

So my best guess says don't worry too much about pneumonia, but there could be other harmful effects I'm unaware of.

Lol. First off, it's not like you're inhaling from a garden hose. The base liquids react with the moisture already present in your mouth, lungs, and sinuses to create all the vapor you see on exhale. Don't trust me? Fire your atty without inhalation n see how much vapor you get. Secondly, nicotine is a powerful antiseptic. It's also more toxic then arsenic, hence the low level we play around with. Add to this the unique properties of PG in combatting germ formation and it would be safe to surmise that you've better odds of getting struck by lightning than getting an infection from vaping. The only obvious concern would be flavor, as others have mentioned. Simply be patient, do your research, and you'll be fine. Vape peacefully, bud. ;)
