I've only been vaping for about a week now and have already weaned myself off of analogs. A big part of the reason I quit is that I was very self-conscious about smoking in public. I was poking around the rest of the forum and saw a lot of people talking about stealth vaping. I'm assuming that means vaping in ways that aren't noticeable to other people. One of them was to hold in the vapor for about 10 seconds so it just dissipates. There was some debate about whether or not this could be harmful to your lungs. I tried it and it gave me one heck of a buzz though. :p Another was to blow into a napkin. This DOES NOT WORK if the napkin is crumpled up and you just blow into it. The vapor goes everywhere. I did find, however, that if I stretched it across my lips and blew THROUGH the napkin, there was no vapor.

Also, apparently it is possible to set off the smoke detector in an airplane bathroom if you get too close to the smoke detector, so you have to be careful. Anyone else tried out stealth vaping yet?

Yikes!!! Stealth vaping?
Sounds like trouble to me, even if no "smoke" is involved.
I think most PV users adhere to the same rules as analog smoking when it comes to public places, probably due to ignorance they encounter. I'm ok with that for now.

I wonder if there are e-liquids that don't produce or produce less vapor... that would take care of the "Stealth" vaping requirements, wouldn't it?

I think there are.

Paper napkins or paper towels don't work; cloth towels do, to a certain degree. Depending on the VG/PG content, holding it in or inhaling through your nose before you exhale do seem to minimize vapor output.

"Stealth" simply means discreet, not invisible or indiscernible.

I did it with a paper towel and it worked, but it was one of those super absorbent ones. lol.

I'm not nice I guess, I VAPE EVERYWHERE, in the grocery store, in my dentists office, in my doctors office, In the library, EVERYWHERE. My wife gets mad. Hehe! Ice seen her doing it in the grocery store recently though. Now if I'm standing in a line, say at the library, I'll try to dissipate the VAPE........but otherwise I'm blowing big ol clouds of vapor.
I have gotten one of those fake coughs from vaping, I was thrilled. It was in the parking lot of the library at the beginning of the week, the woman was walking behind us in the library parking lot, we were all going I to the library, I talked loudly about it to my wife, and to be on the safe side I started vaping my head off, especially while I held the doors open for her inside of the library.
As I said my wife gets mad at me for being a "donkey".

Recently I had to spend time in hospital, not able to smoke. Because I introduced ecig as a nictotine inhaler, was allowed to use it in the ward! Didn't feel comfortable though, so head under blankets, or cubicle curtains drawn mostly.

One thing I did do is hold ecig in fist so only top showed, inhaled, then blew vapour back down behind fist. Worked well enough during daylight.

I wish I had the cajones to be like that, but it would NOT fly in the uptight area I live in. The housewives around here are brutal. You'd probably have a blast with it, but I try to fly under the radar as much as possible. You should see the looks I get already just because I'm not the blond-haired, SUV-driving, soccer mom type.

Kinda, yepp My Job requires that I work in very public places, primarily a very non smoking place. I don't vape while I am working there merely because of perception. It just wouldn't work in that environment if the public "assumed" I was smoking. Of course legaly and by the rules of the place I could if I really wanted to. Sometimes its just not worth it.

Did I mention church?! Lol
I VAPE at my church! Not in the sanctuary during the sermon........but before, after during the week in the sanctuary, in the classes before church (not actually once the class starts mind you, but in the classroom up till the moment it does start, and the moment it ends), in my Yoga class :), once again not during yoga, but before yoga when I'm sitting on the mat chilling out before we get started, and after we are done. My yoga class is also in my church twice a week. Thursday early ,owning, and Monday t eight at night. But to be fair on that one it was the yoga instructor who turned my wife and I onto vaping, and I just turned her onto the tank system this week.
I did have someone in the class before church ask me if I should really be doing that in here, to which I replied that it was mostly water vapor, kinda like what was coming up from the cup of coffee she was carrying.
I would have to describe my church as kinds "hippy" new age'ey though, so YMMV. But vaping in front of the preacher in her church after a class last night did feel good.
I guess my "don't give a hoot" gene is gone, because most of the time I don't. I won't do anything that I think would hurt someone, but I do love to mess with their minds.
Now about the whole conservative thing......I prety much live in a retirement community, and they have actually outlawed smoking on the beach. That's right the beach of the town that I live in, it is against the law to smoke at, and any and every building that has the public inside of it, same thing there, no smoking. I've ALMOST been thrown out of a few restaurants here for vaping......almost.

My stealth vaping technique, take a slow drag to get a good amount of vapor. Hold it in my mouth until I'm done taking the drag. Inhale with a half breath. Hold it for a couple of seconds, then inhale deeply. Hold it for a few seconds and exhale blowing downward.

I'm a student and my classes are 2 1/2 to 4 hours long. I vape in class often, even in the front row with people behind me. If you use something small like a 510 and put a cap from a Bic pen on the end it covers the light and people just think you have a nasty habit of chewing on your pen.

Now that I think about it, it's kind of silly for me to be so worried about stealth vaping. I mean, the ashtray smell I carried around with me screamed "I'm a smoker" for years, even if I wasn't actually smoking in front of anyone. That was also something I was really sensitive about. If I had to be somewhere where I was going to be around a lot of people I didn't know, I'd always try to take a shower and brush my teeth before I went. If I didn't have time to, I'd always try to stand a few feet away from people so they couldn't smell me. Well, unless I was at a bar/club or with my friends.
