Is switching to vaping really quitting?

What do you guys think? I haven't smoked an analog in 23 days. Haven't even had the urge. Sure, I quit analogs, but have I quit smoking? For all you out there that have made the switch, are you trying to quit vaping, or are you content knowing that you've chosen a safer (?) alternative?

I look forward to the mixed replies I'm sure I'll see on this.

I have not lit any form of tobacco for almost a year. In my head, I am still a smoker although technically I am not.

At present, I can indulge my pastime of vaping anywhere and at almost anytime. I feel healthier than I did whilst I was inhaling lit tobacco fumes and I can go to Real Pubs again!!!! (without being stood outside; freezing my bits off!)

Even if the MHRA (here in the UK) have their way and remove the eliquids from the market, I will still vape no nicotine liquids whilst stuffing my gob with a veritable ratatouille of aubergines, tomatoes and tatties :)

I may cut out nicotine in the future, BUT I will not stop vaping unless I get bored of it, or find a better 'displacement activity' ;)

I think your question may not be exactly what you mean to ask?! Do you mean to ask, if the switch to vaping is a way to give up an addiction? My answer would be NO.
I've quit (like in q-u-i-t) smoking cigarettes !!! I did not, "quit" my addiction to nicotine (I've drastically lowered my intake of nicotine, but that does not make me less of an addict).
I do not intent to give up vaping. In case I keep thinning down the e-juice to the point of where I do not inhale any nicotine anymore (happened a couple times by accident already, while mixing), I would still not give up vaping. IMO, there's more to smoking and vaping than just the nicotine: It's a habit.

I entirely agree with NoMoreMondays but there is a different way to look at it...if you used the patch or gum to quit you would say you stopped smoking. You would still be absorbing nicotine but in a different way that is a little bit safer for you. This is virtually the same thing as the gum but most of the time it tastes better and you get to satisfy the other part of the addiction, the physical hand/mouth action, which in my opinion is harder to beat than the chemical addiction.

Well, I haven't had a actual cigarette in over a year so I did stop using tobacco, but I haven't kicked the ACT of smoking.
I still enjoy the hand to mouth motion, the visual effect of seeing "smoke" knowing it is vapor, and I still use nicotine so I consider vaping as a alternative to smoking or recreational nicotine use.
Nicotine gum didn't work - got soars in the mouth, nicotine patch didn't work - horrible rash and itching, did not like the inhaler at all, chantix caused horrible nightmares for my sister so I was/am hesitant to even try that one. Vaping is what has managed to actually keep me away from actual tobacco smoking so it works for me.

All the best and Happy Vaping,
Wing.

Havn't had an analog since Feb 11, so I am not smoking....I do vape....lol...For me, there is a big difference,,,,both physically and mentally concerning the smoking verses vaping experience...I have even seen here on this forum, that some people's life insurance companies, do not classify them as "smokers" anymore, so their insurance costs went down...For me that is a good indicator that we are not "smoking" anymore...
Quit vaping? To early to think about that...Maybe in a year or two....I do use less nic during the day or when I am at the computer verses when I wake up with my morning coffee....Enjoy...

Personally I never planned on quitting to begin with. I always hated cigarettes because I knew that they were killing me, but I love the nicotine, and the hand to mouth repetition. The whole process just kinda feels right to me. I have noticed, that certain times, I almost forget to vape. I never forgot to smoke a cigarette, I was almost always thinking about it, when can I have another, how many do I have left...but it's not like that now. I always wanted to have an analog, and while I have had 2 in the last 7 weeks, I don't miss them. I do however find that I don't need to vape as much as I smoked, but sometimes I do just for the comfort factor (usually having something to do with my hands...ADHD...can't sit still), but if I get engrossed in a job or project, sometimes vaping slips my mind.

I've been saying "I haven't had a cigarette in more than 5 months". The people who are asking me about it are the ones who say that I quit. They know there's nicotine- cause that's the first question they ask. Nicotine itself, in less than toxic doses, isn't necessarily a bad thing. As an addiction, nicotine doesn't interfere with life,or performing my jobs, or functioning. I try not to get caught up in the labels of quit/not quit/addicted- because they are beside the point. I breathe better, smell better, am less likely to be tied to an oxygen tank later in life, and have not been homicidal. ;)
