Switching to zero nic

I used vaping as a way to quit analog cigarettes but I have reading here that a lot of people vape zero nic. What are the positives of switching? Do you think it will be as hard as quitting smoking? What is the best way to make the switch? Should I do half and half until I'm completely on zero nic? Any and all help is welcome!

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking. There are people that vape zero nic whom have never smoked because they tend to enjoy the "act" of smoking without taking in all the chemicals in cigs. There are people such as myself who are using vaping as a way to taper down their nicotine levels until they reach zero and either stop vaping altogether or continue vaping zero nic juice. I started at 24 mg juice and have lowered my level down to 18 mg and my next order of juice I'm going to order 16 mg. The goal for me is to continue this trend down to 0; but that's how I want to do it for me. You have to decide how you want to do it. I will say I have read posts on these forums where members have been smoking a pack a day and they get 6mg juice and find that they are vaping all day and cannot get that "fix" because the nic level is too low. It all depends on how much you smoke and what type you smoked. If you smoked strong high nic cigs like I did, I would probably start at 18 or so and work down if that's you'r goal.

I went to zero soon after I started vaping. After about six months, I realized that my satisfaction level was diminishing. Given the fact that I had quit smoking and resumed many times in my life, I was afraid of quitting vaping, and not having anything to return to in times of stress. So.... I added 3 mg/ml to my juices. Just enough for a small throat-hit when I really want it, otherwise, I don't feel it.

If I accidentally get more than three mg/ml, the dizziness sets in.

You might be surprised how easily you can go from as much as 18mg to 0mg. I used 0mg cold turkey for two days in a row. I just needed a 12mg pick-me-up in the mornings. I really didn't notice any massive craving like I did with cigarettes. Even though your brain knows it's 0mg, it's still satisfying just to vape.

The benefits I noticed include
- No throat irritation (some people enjoy it, I don't)
- Liquid is smoooooth and the flavour really sticks out, instead of getting, "WHAM" entirely throat hit
- Easier to get delivered (if you're in a country where nicotine liquid is banned)
- Sometimes can be cheaper, if a site changes the price based on nicotine content
- Makes it much easier to DIY, no hassle with finding and measuring out the correct nicotine content

I am in the process of this right now. I started at 24mg when I quit smoking and am now sitting at 1mg (silly I know) but its where I have gotten to over the past 100ish days. I will continue to vape when even when I reach 0mg because the hand to mouth part of smoking is still very strong for me.

But any way to answer your question I stepped down from 24 > 18 > 16> 12> 8> 6> 4> 3> 2> 1 and found that it was way way way easier than quitting or weening back smoking. Like not even the same thing at all. However that is what has worked for me and may or may not work for you. The important thing to remember in your case specificly is that you are doing this to stop smoking. If it takes you 3 months or 3 years to reach your 0 nic goal it doesn't matter as long as you stick with what works for you.

As far as tips don't feel like you are on the clock to get to 0mg do it at the pace that you and your body are comfortable with. Your speed will be faster than some and slower than others but make sure you find your speed, and don't be afraid to go back up in nic if you drop down to fast it doesn't mean you are failing at it but you just tried to go to fast.

I'm one of those that are stuck at 12 mg still. I started at 18, dropped fast to 12 and had a hard time with that. I dropped only because I gave myself a time frame of when I wanted to be at 12 versus paying attention as to how I was handling the lowered nic. I've learned that I won't drop again until I feel ready or start to feel like the nic is too much.

As long as I'm not smoking cigs, I'm ok with being stuck at 12 for awhile. When I make it to zero mg, personally, I feel I don't need to vape anymore. I love vaping but for me, I only want to vape to get fully off of nic. I may think differently once I'm there but that's how I feel today.

Michael, I think the advantages of 0 nic are pretty obvious, but tapering down is the best way. I have vaped the same flavors at lower levels and didn't get the same throat hit (it gets lighter). I started at 24mg 6 months ago, and currently back/forth between 12 and 6. If I'm drinking, I HAVE to have the higher nic to feel it.
 
I'm doing a 50/50 work down right now. The brand I like came out with no nic, so I got a few and I enjoy them but it's not exactly the same but I still enjoy it still. So right now I am vaping both. And I am just going to slowly stop buying the nic ones and switch completely to no nic. Thanks for all the great input!
