What do you mean the vapor comes from our bodies? I drink 4 coffees a day and 2 blue monster energy drinks and 2 mountain dews with 2 bottles of water through out the day....fell really thirsty n heavy eyed but not too tired

Bedtime 11-1130 wake up 6am....sometimes cannot get up

Drink more water?

Yes, more water. Caffeine dehydrates you as well. All those energy drinks and coffee are not helping.

Vapor from vaping comes from our bodies. As for caffeine and coffee there are clinical trials about having more than 4 cups of Java causing dehydration.
Do Electronic Cigarettes Cause Dehydration?
Also went to see my nose surgeon 1 month ago and I told him about vaping and he loved it. I asked about dehydration and he said yes. The throat and mouth areas would dry up and the saliva glands would be importing extra moisture from the body thus causing dehydration. He now encourages me to vape in his office and I've even converted one of his patients that has serious analog related issues.

All in the link and sublinks I posted.
From ATSDR
Propylene glycol is a synthetic liquid substance that absorbs water.
ATSDR - Toxic Substances - Propylene Glycol

Try this. Activate your PV away from your mouth for 3 secs- hardly any vapor. Now activate your PV attached to your mouth and inhale and exhale- tons of vapor...magic???

Going to buy few gallons of Poland spring today...the vapor comes out of the ecig...into my lungs then back out when I exhale. It takes more vapor out of my body? No way

Why is it dehydrating?

I've been having exactly the opposite experience.

My first weekend of vaping I went to bed at 4:30am on Saturday morning, woke up at 07:30 am and then was awake till 03:30am Sunday morning. I woke up at 8am. Sunday night I went to bed at 11:50pm and only because I had to work the next day.

My experience was similar to Seanl's. I was only getting 3-4 hours of sleep a night during my second week vaping without feeling groggy or tired at all the next day. Cut my nic level back and I started sleeping normally again.

Could be a seasonal thing. I've been getting 8+ hours of sleep every night for the last week and I've been dragging all week. With the shorter days, I don't see much sun since I sit in a windowless office and it's going down by the time I get off work.

In Canada but I begin taking Vitamin D in Oct. because of a lack of Sun. Supposed to have 1000 mg per day which the Sun provides in 15 minutes during optimal conditions/ Summer.

Although age 60 I am definitely seeing a benefit in taking certain vitamins daily. I eat very well and exercise regularly but certain situations and age groups need these extra doses and I have definitelky noticed a difference in my overall health and well being. I saw someone I hadn't seen for a yr and the first thing they asked was "What are you doing because you look younger and have a glow about you"...

Dotma - next time I get some juice going to get some 50/50 and some 100% VG. Figure if I start getting a reaction it's good to have some nic backup that wouldn't get me an allergic reaction . Also PM'd you about the northern latitude blahs.

Running wolf, excellent idea! When I first started realizing it may be the PG that was causing me some issues, i was sure glad i had some VG juice to just experiment with to see if it changed things.

LOL I used to drink 10+ cups of strong Java from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm. It was tough but I managed to cut it down to 2 cups regular and 2 cups decaf. For getting to sleep without using pharmas try taking Gravol as recommended by Health Professionals about 5 mins before you're ready to sleep. I take 1 pill whereas my wife only needs 1/4 pill but she's under 100 lbs while I'm at 185.

I have been very tired since I started. But I haven't been sleeping well. I sleep great when I finally get sleepy enough to go to bed, but that is later than normal. I also hate drinking water and drink too much coffee. Trying real hard to drink more water and I do feel better when I do. Just have to make myself do it.

I drink coffee from the time I wake up until I go to bed. Not so smart I know. Really trying to replace some of it with flavored water or just water. I'll look for at the Gravol. I'm one that is very resistant to take anything for sleep for fear of needing it.

I am actually sleeping deeper when I do sleep, which is an improvement. Hardly ever waking up during the night.

I'm going to start walking everyday and see if that helps.

Hey there dotma,

I have been vaping for about four months now, and my tiredness has been a problem since the beginning and has yet to go away.

And it's not because of anything having to do with smoking. I switched to vaporettes -- as I like to call e-cigs -- from the gum and the patch. I had always missed the inhaling feeling of cigarettes, and I really do enjoy these things. And I have found that actually wearing the patch as well (a minimum strength one) does help with the tiredness, but not enough to really feel normal. I also feel very undermotivated. Work is hard to get done.

And yes, to everyone who's going to mention hydration, I drink an obscene amount of fluids, so it's not that. And it's been four months now, so it's not a phase, it's not about to clear up tomorrow, it's not because I am sick or stressed or overworked or any of those.

I would love to hear if other people have had this specific problem or are familiar with it from friends or patients or whatnot. This tiredness is a real issue that I have with these things -- and one which I didn't have with the patch or gum -- and I would hate to give them up but I am afraid I might have to.

Check out the -WTA- thread on this forum. I found WTA to help me get over the same problems you are having. Still use it and am over the two year mark with vaping now.
