Im not one but Provari owners I don't think are going to like a direct comparison.
Do think though that the technology and price ( well perhaps to some extent) has improved a bit since.
They're only worth what they're worth to the user though.
Amongst many of the ProVari owners I've spent 1.5 yrs with on this forum, they don't mind direct comparisons. We don't trash other devices (well with the exception of the Vamo) but other device owners are quick to trash the ProVari.

I haven't touched my Provari since I got a couple of istick 30W's. The istick is more compact and the battery lasts me all day. I was changing the Provari battery 3 times a day.
Since I have too many options I don't use my ProVari/s as often as I did when I first got them but I do eventual get to them in my rotation.

I had 2 iSticks--both now given away to someone who doesn't have as many toys as I & I got tired of hearing how bored she was with only one tank etc etc etc.

I would never trash P'varis; evidently they're excellent devices -- they're just too costly for me, and I have to second what someone else said, that kind of money for something that only goes to what, 15, 20 watts? That's not even reality. And what I've learned since I've been vaping is that I won't stay interested in the same device long enough to warrant spending that kind of money on it -- it might keep you from needing to get another, by virtue of its quality, but what about desire? If I spent that kind of money on a mod, I literally *couldn't* buy anything else for a long, long time -- heck I'd have to save up for a year, just to afford it in the first place.

BMWs are excellent cars, I'm told, but I still can't afford one, no matter how great they are. Ditto Provari.

I'm a little confused. I never said you would trash a ProVari nor do I recall you spending time in the Provape forum or were you just speaking in general?

Just generally, to your comment that others like to bash Provaris -- I'm sure there's nothing at all wrong with them, many seem to love them dearly... I'll just never be able to afford something that costly.

My Provis tho..... they'll stay. They'll be the same consistent and lush vape givers they were from Day One.

I don't even see a way of comparing the two.

As Kat stated the two can not be compared. My oldest son purchased a iStick 50 and he's having issues with it now such as it reads all atty's at .6 ohm even my 1.5 ohm KFL reads .6 on it. I told him to return it, but knowing him that's not going to happen. I had 3 VV3's from Innokin and since they were dying off I bought my first Provari and since then I've been in Provari heaven.

I'm a bit confused here. Changing the battery of a Provari 3 times a day? You either have dead batteries or using off brand batteries. I can go a day and a half on a 18490 and almost the entire day on a 18350. Maybe I'm just a Tootie Puffer.

Is the istick the new Provari

No and not even close. One is a quality product and one is not.

You'll find there are factions of loyal owners. Provari is not alone. Super T has a fanatical following, Billet Box has a fanatical following, ect, ect.. These 3 are high end mods though.

The iStick is cheap, many can afford it and thus many have it. Other than it's price, there really is nothing special about it.

Really that's pretty simple. Value for dollar spent is not based on reality. Such "outrageous prices" means what? They are outrageous to you, but perhaps not to others. The tech may also be too old skool for some, and then for others (like moi), it is ideal. The "superceded" tech, no matter the cost, does not even warrant a second glance from me.

Not trashing -- questioning why they would continue to charge such outrageous prices for tech that's been superceded.

No one I know of has superseded Provari. It's by far the safest mod out there. I don't consider 30-180 watts and above as superseding. I don't consider them over priced either. Quality and durability isn't cheap.

Provari pricing does relate to US manufacturing costs versus offshore. Should an overseas company match their manufacturing processes and product quality, it would certainly be less expensive to make. I don't know the cost of operating a service center in the states, but if that is added in, the pricing may not end up that different.

That said, used ProVaris that perform as new can often be had for as little as $70, and a used one was my last regulated mod purchase. Even at that price, I'm paying a premium for smooth power, durability and ongoing service.

For a vaper like me, who's not using or planning to use high wattage devices, it does rule my herd of mods.

Different strokes for different folks!

Outrageous prices????????????????????????????

Sorry, but I've purchased mods that were 3x the price of a Provari..

That's one of the problems with these cheap, cheaply made, clone and counterfeit devices. They make quality mods look overpriced when they actually are not.

An old pic. That particular saw certainly doesn't look new any more:

They're both tools. One puts food on my table and heats my house, the other keeps me from smoking.
Skimping on either one is not in my best interest because I depend on them to work for me. Buy once, cry once.

As long as I can remember the Provari has had the reputation of near bullet proof reliability.

The failure rate of the iStick 50W is staggering. I can't remember any other mod having even half the complaints. And the recent thread about the one exploding is just plain frightening.

(And for the record, I don't own either)

Back in the day it was always just, "get a Provari". Nowadays, it's, "just get an istick50w". This whole forum is full of istick this, istick that.

I don't give a stick.

Not at all; more like the new mvp.
When the istick came out it basically replaced the mvp2 as the best bang for the buck in startup batteries for new vapers.

Just to be clear; I wasn't comparing the 2 mods as far as performance goes or credibility. Nor was I trashing the istick. The Provari will always have a loyal following, much like anything else in life. Some love it, some hate it, some don't care.

My OP was terrible. You can't compare the 2.

I just see a lot of people telling newbies to get an istick, where as years ago, it was all Provari this, Provari that.

Cheers.
