For me, relatively easy, though I let myself transition over a full week, and made sure to pick up some higher nic eliquid for first thing in the morning and other hard craving points. Residual there were some cravings over a month or so, the purely psychological thing like not smoking a cig on the way home on a Friday after work. By about 4 months I was really comfortable, allowed myself to do the "what would a cig be like now?" test, and it really did bite, I knew that I was no longer a smoker.
Nowadays, after several years, any cravings are few and far between. I have gear that works consistently well, an all-day-vape that likewise does the job, make sure that I have a backup in my car.
On the other hand, I have friends who likewise have several years still fighting the cigs. Net, everyone I know who has made a serious go at vaping has either quit or at least hugely cut back on smoking, so it's a win. Back when I tried the Welbutrin, patch, gum, multiple times over multiple years, I could never string together long periods without smoking.
