I'm sorry nj1001 but comparing the WET to a Ferrari seems to be a bit of a stretch. There's a bit more engineering involved in making a car than a battery holder. I'm sure the WET is very nice, but it's still just a battery holder and a, more or less, off-the-shelf chip. While titanium is more expensive and harder to machine than say SS, prices have come down in recent years. I could see maybe $300-even $350, but $550 seems a bit over the top to me. That being said, if Mark Bugs can convince people that his APVs are the best of the best and worth those prices, more power to him. As for it being Ti, I think that's more about marketing than function. The structural requirements of an APV don't require that sort of strength to weight, imho

My car analogy wasn't comparing the WET to a fararri directly, lol. I said if the provari is a honda then the provari is a Ferrari. Either way it's the same principal. It's the most expensive commercially available mod I know of. One is harder to make and made from finer materials and is more expensive than the other.
To an extent its apples and oranges too considering ones vv & ones vw.

Yes, obviously more is required to make a car than a battery mod... I think I understand that and won't argue.

Oh I know it wasn't a direct comparison. :D. ....and I really do think it's pretty much a apples to apples compression. There's not all that much different between VV and VW. The point I have been trying to make is that all he is doing is making a nice little Ti tube and I don't really think It's worth $500. Ti is not that expensive or fine. I can buy a whole, made in the USA, Litespeed bicycle frame for $1300. The chip that powers the WET is designed by someone else. Provape on the other, designed their own electronics in house. A more impressive accomplishment in my book. I guess what I'm saying is that there's nothing "special" about his product to warrant the high prices. He's simply marketing to those who like to brag that they spent X amount of dollars. If there was something groundbreaking or unique about his APVs I'd be with you. I just don't see it that way. Now if he were to make a platinum mod, now we're talking. :toast:

So to you it's not worth it. Those are your thought process to arive at that decision. It's still worth it to all those who eagerly anticipated and then fought for one though.people paying the price means it's worth that much to the market that they can build it for. Don't even matter if 95% of the people felt like you and I, the market can bear it so it's worth it to those that matter :)

Of course. I took the question as "do we personally think it's worth it?" If he sells his product to someone, it's worth it to them and if he sells them to enough people to be profitable, it's a good business model. :)

I hate to tell you all but Provari is a F250 Super duty XLT. Big heavy solid and dependable. Don't be disgracing it by comparing it to some sissy duded up sports car. ;-)
The Honda will still be going strong @ 300k miles with pretty much just oil & brake changes...much like the Provari.
While the F250 might make it that many miles you will have put a lot of $$ into parts and labor :p

Someone should start a "Is the pure silver Caravela worth it??" thread.

Pedro is asking 2000+ euro for them, and he only plans on making 333. There have already been over 900 requests for them, so to some ridiculously rich people out there, I'm sure they're worth it.

Seriously though, 2000+ euro for a mechanical mod? That is insane.

And sadly, most of those 33 will never actually be used, would be my guess. Value is relative to each of our situations. I place a high value on quality and longevity. Sure, the ProVari *can* fail, but how likely is it given the number of them out there kicking with years of use and abuse. And secondly, I pay for someone standing behind their product. But then, I have that kind of disposable income to do that. Owning a ProVari doesn't make me a better vaper than the guy or gal who enjoys their Ego + Kanger T3. I don't understand why this always has to be a .... measuring contest. Like what the PV offers? Can you pay what they ask? If true, then make your decision. If false, find what works for you at a lower price point. I found mine on eBay for quite a bit less than what they sell for new. I don't recall anyone calling me out for not buying it brand new, that's not what this community is about.

About 20 years ago, myself, my wife, and another couple had dinner at a restaurant and the check was $800.

Can any dinner possibly we worth $800?

I can only say, that of all the places I have ever eaten. That is the one I will always remember.

I got stuck with a $700 bar tab once. I asked if they would take my WET as a trade, they said no, they already had an ego and it was working fine.

Sorta true but I dont just drive my truck down the road I use it for a truck and it gets some serious abuse. But my last 2 trucks I traded at 250 thousand with the only major repairs were chassy tire rods and ball joints and such. From hauling heavy loads over rough terrain.

Provape did several runs of the gold plated Provari. So someone must have wanted one. $1,500/oz gold kinda put an end to that tho'.

Would you pay $29.600,000 for a car?

    Someone did
