Is there a reason for Everclear?

reason I'm asking, is I try different flavor juices, but don't want to change coils every time, so I thought washing might be the way to go. I've got 4 Aspire minis and 3 clearos and a 1/2 dozen coils laying around (used) and bottles of juice I've tried and hated to match the coils laying around. So washing the coils just seemed to be logical

Everclear is PGA (pure grain alcohol) and comes in at 190 proof (92.4% alcohol according to Wikipedia). The more alcohol in a liquid, the faster it evaporates.
It is also consumable so there are no issues of bad residue after it evaporates. Regular rubbing alcohol is poisonous and should not to be used for coil cleaning.

To save money, you can use the cheapest vodka you can find, just get the highest proof you can afford. It's not that vodka wont' work, just that Everclear is better.

ETA: Use the hottest water you can stand to clean the coils, then let them soak in the vodka to hopefully remove or neutralize the taste. Don't forget to clean the tank, too.

I know this may sound dumb... but is there a point to cleaning your tank with anything more than hot water?
I clean my tank every time I replace the wick with hot water and wipe down with a dish towel, so weekly I guess, and they still look clean as if they were new.
Coil wise, I just replace since it's cheap from that one site that shall be remained nameless in case it breaks a rule.

Everclear was kind of a thing way way back, when many of us used cartomizers. It helped to get the gunk and flavor out of the carto fiber filling.

Since I stopped using cartos, I really don't use it often. Mostly I just rinse and dry burn my coils. It can help by cleaning particularly bad residue out of a clearomizer or tank, but not much better than really hot water.

I don't see why you can't use rubbing alcohol to clean. I mean you can put it on your skin to clean out small cuts and it doesn't kill you. As long as you let it dry out to the point where it doesn't smell like rubbing alcohol, then you aren't ingesting it. If you happen to have a tiny bit left, its not gonna hurt you any more than vaping everclear would, which is really not at all.

The story on rubbing alcohol is that it is not pure alcohol, it contains other chemicals. I don't remember what they were (Use the Google, Luke Skywalker).
I have and still use 91% isopropyl alcohol for cleaning atty heads. I think I have 4-5 atty heads sitting in Iso now.
NOTE: Both Are Poisionous, So Give The Alcohol Plenty Of Dry Time. And OBTW Don't Drink It.
