I'm wondering if anyone else experienced anything similar to this:

I quit smoking for about 7 years. I had tried cutting back, cold turkey, the gum, lozenge, Wellbutrin... all failed. Except the patch. The patch worked. And then like a fool I said I'll "just smoke for the weekend" while camping one summer, and went back to cigs. Anyway. I digress.

When quitting with the patch, I took it off before bed. It gave me weird dreams, which was sometimes fun and other times completely unpleasant, like the dream in which my cat got hit by a car and all I could do was stand there and watch. No lie, I woke up thinking he was dead. So no patches at night after that.

When I put my patch on in the morning, I would get a cig like buzz from it.

Now, keep in mind, I was a heavy smoker. A pack a day, sometimes slightly more if I was driving, drinking (not at the same time, of course), or stressed out. I should have been used to nicotine enough that I wouldn't get a buzz. But about 15 minutes after I put my patch on, sure enough. It only happened with the highest strength patch and never with the lower ones, but still.

That had to be nicotine, because I wasn't smoking anything to take in CO2.

Just something I'm throwing out there.

I had awful dreams of my family dying on the patch too, so I had to stop wearing it at night. But the pack just couldn't do it for me, and I only smoked 5 ciggies a day max.

Haven't read thru all the replies, but some of that light-headed cig buzz you're describing is due to carbon monoxide. It competes w/ oxygen to bind to red blood cells, and that's something you'll definitely notice more if you only have the occasional cigarette.

Didn't realize people were still replying to this, so sorry this is a week late! But I think this definitely what I am missing. Which now that I know what it is and how bad it really is for my health... I think I can do without it hopefully. Trying to get off my one cig a day and fully just vape, but this is preventing me. Hopefully knowing what it is, now I can tell my brain that it's healthier and to try to override the craving for my own health!

As far as I know there are two reasons that people got a buzz from cigarettes...

1) The carbon monoxide, which is essentially depriving your brain of oxygen
2) The possible interaction of the nicotine and the other MAOIs found in tobacco which can also be found in WTA liquids

I can get a slight "buzz" from using WTA liquid, but it's not the same buzz I got from the first cigarette (carbon monoxide) in the morning.

I've seen people talk about a buzz from straight nicotine, but I never got one.
Not sure what it feels like, but I guess it's probably a lot like downing a few cups of coffee really fast.

That would be a third kind of buzz I guess, sort of jittery.
I liked the calming buzz from the carbon monoxide oxygen deprivation myself.

Well thank gosh I didn't spend the extra money on the WTA if it's not the same buzz! Everyone helping and teaching me what the different buzzes and such are is awesome! Thanks!

That buzz is something else. I remember liking it. But I only got it if I smoked a cig ridiculously fast. It can make your arms and legs numb if you're not careful. Go for the head buzz but once it reaches body buzz- you better be sitting down lol.

And yes, it's likely due to a combo of nicotine and lack of oxygen. Vaping can bring it on but not as much as smoking. Which I believe to be a good thing.

Honestly I used to smoke two or three, get so nauseous that I would come inside and just lay on the floor with my head spinning, and sometimes puke a bit. And this is why I kept smoking. Scary to think that the buzz I am addicted to is being deprived of oxygen...

:shock:When my wife and started vaping our son gave us our setups for Christmas. We got all of his unwanted flavors to try out as well as some we had talked about when he was talking about him vaping and all the flavors available. Anyway one afternoon we decided to try this peach flavor he gave us. He said the first few hits were great but then it just tasted like the fuzz on the peal. So we loaded up our drippers and started vaping it. about 4 or 5 hits in i started feeling the familiar buzz you get from an analog sometimes. Then the fuzzy taste started in. I picked up the bottle and looked at it, it was the only one of that brand we had. I about Well lets just say I was surprised to see that it was 36mg nicotine. all of our others were 6 to 12 mg nicotine. That was the last peach we vaped. Gave the stuff to our younger son when he started vaping. He tried it once and tossed the bottle.

Most of the nic you absorb by vaping is through the mucous membranes in the mouth, throat, and sinuses, unlike cigarette smoke which is chiefly absorbed through the lungs. Vapor droplets from ecigs are too large to make it all the way through the bronchial tubes and deeply into the lungs. Cigarette smoke particles are actually tiny ash particles and they actually reach the ends of the bronchial tubes and enter the alveoli, delivering the nic directly to the heart and then straight to the brain.

So, vaping is a slower process in terms of absorption and you end up sensing the effects in a more subtle way. As BeecherJeeper said, if you want a buzz, try some 36mg juice.

Most of use don't vape for the buzz. We vape to eliminate the need to smoke cigarettes and avoid the dangers of smoking.
