Ok, good. Glad to know the price was the going rate. Yeah, it's expensive stuff, but it is really well made. One may argue that it costs too much, but when you want to treat yourself to a great vape, you know what you're paying for when you're vaping it. Of course, you don't need to pay $1 per ml for a great vape, and there are loads of great e juices on the market. This one is definitely one of my luxuries.

I've tried gentlemen's reserve, it's excellent.
I tried high five from good life, blah...not impressed.

I'd like to find a DIY recipe for something similar to castle long! I've tried a few local stores in house recipes and some are not bad...not great and usually very overpriced.

If anyone has a recipe for castle long (no oak aging req) I'd love to try it.

Thanks again. I just got it. This stuff is great. It tastes extremely similar to castle long but the barrel aging really does make a difference. And it's not $27/$38. The flavor isn't as in your face as Castle Long but this is some quality juice. SCDP is fantastic also. I'm only using it in a protank right now but it tastes exactly as described. And none of that perfumy taste that some apple flavors tend to have.

Just got a bottle of the Steam Co.'s Gentleman's Reserve, and I want to thank EleanorR for the suggestion. HOLY COW, is it good. Definitely on par with Castle Long! Not exactly the same, nor would I expect it to be, but a fantastic juice in it's own right. Thoroughly enjoying it!

Castle Long is my current favorite. To me it's a perfect bourbon style juice. I want to try something different(and maybe cheaper). I tried Lazarus Vintage Trinity Reserved but I was a bit disappointed in it. Any thoughts?

I had high hopes for the Lazarus stuff myself... Meh. It's okay, but not what I expected. I'm putting it away for a bit... Perhaps it will get better with age.

Glad I didnt buy any of lazarus stuff myself. seems like the people in here have similar expectations to mine, and so far a couple of thumbs down for it.... that pretty much seals the deal for me. I've been thru so many hype bomb juices that were let downs to me..... I've stopped (or hopefully stopped) impulse buying juices based on only reading positive reviews..... taste is sooooooo subjective.

Don't get me wrong, it's not bad... Just not quite up to the hype and not quite as described. It is good, but to me, it's a caramel type flavor... That's it. I was expecting more from the description. But you're right. Taste is subjective. I know of a few people that love it. So far, for me at least, Castle Long, Gentleman's Reserve, and Casablanca are the big three. I also love Mr Vape's Dk tab and Heather's Legend... And a few others. Good juice is our RIGHT!! Lol

Same here. I didn't like the Lazurus stuff at all. Whatever that cream base flavor is that is their signature is just bad, plus it kills all the other flavors.

Bringing this thread back. So far nothing I've tried has been able to compete with CL and TGR. Those are a couple of my all time Fav juices.... I've vaped about 5-6 bottles of TGR and 4-5 bottles of Castle Long MIXOLOGY (only about 1/2 of the reserve, so I have a little left for dripping or whatever).

The combination in CL & TGR is amazing to me, easily an ADV, but since I go thru 6-10 ml a day, an expensive habit.............. would love to find a more reasonable price comparable ejuice........... tried a couple build your own thru a few vendors with no success.
Has anyone found other juices like castle long or the gentlemens reserve?

(oh and fwiw, I've tried the orchard from steam co, its mediocre to me... the beaumont was good, a little strong I don't know if I could vape it all day, its pretty "in your face" flavor, but in a good way)

IMO I don't mind paying premium prices if a juice is that good.... Long time user of TGR, just ordered 2 bottles of CLR for the first time, that's 60 mls.. It should last me at least a month, because I always vape a minimum of 2 flavors throughout the day. I was smoking a carton of cigs a week, in today's money that would be $80-90/wk , I just paid $75 for a months worth ........ $360 vs $75 pretty simple when you think of it in those terms

How long do you guys steep your castle for? not talking about the reserve... I could have sworn I read something somewhere on Five Pawns that the juice is pre-steeped, but I always steep no matter what a brand says, typically for at minimum of two weeks.

What's your thoughts on steeping normal castle long?

I tried it fresh out of the bottle (from a friend) while driving, he didn't steep his and the bottle was maybe a day old from Five Pawn's actual store front in California. I wasn't blown away, it was good, but it wasn't anything mind blowing. I think I'm going to buy a bottle for myself, but I wanted to ask you C.Long lovers if you have any steeping recommendations? 2 weeks? none? month?

Thanks!

For everyone searching there is a castle long recipe around. I receive all my supplies tomorrow and will be making my first test batch! if my math is correct and i can get this right I'll be at 23 cents a ml.

e-Liquid Calculator :: DIY Castle long clone 2 (TFA/TPA)

I've already done some tweaks to this recipe myself as some of it seems unbalanced to me.

enjoy.

i'll let y'all know my results

So at the end of the day the recipe i followed was not all that great it is still missing something to it that i can not figure out. I did however mix half and half on that recipe.
1/2 CL original by five pawns
1/2 CL Clone made by myself,
this ended up tasting amazing. so at least my $27 has helped me obtain 60ml instead of only 30, a little more reasonable in my wallet :toast::vapor:

I loved castle long the first time I bought it (in a sample pack, the itty bitty vials). Then I bought bottle of it and it's almost too strong flavored for me. I'm gonna give it another try one of these days and if I don't like it I'll throw into the classified thread for a good price.

yup! That's how I justify all my vape stuff when my family starts asking questions about my new toys. No matter what, I'm not shelling out anywhere near what I spent on cigarettes...
