Is this a sign that I'm ready for Variable Voltage?

I'm still a newbie, been vaping for just shy of 2 months. I have zero complaints for the results I've gotten w/ the investment I've made so far. I have a few ego clones I roate w/ about 10 CE4/CE5's. I've learned the ropes to not have them ever leak, and I only vape lightly so none of them are clogged or icky. Now I've been thru quite a few flavors, and I finally found something I consider to literally be delicious - a vanilla ice-cream / extra blueberry mix. I do long mouth holds, followed by a slow french-inhale (mouth into nostrils), and this is how to really taste a flavor IMO, when you're literally smelling it as you inhale. It reminds me of the aroma of a fresh blueberry muffin. Now something I've noticed, is if I take more than a few hits in quick succession, the coil obviously gets hotter and the taste changes. I can't say it's a burnt taste, cuz it's not getting to that point, but the deliciousness diminishes until the wick resaturates. It's not really a problem because I'm constantly rotating between at least 2 flavors, but this is the 1st flavor I've been able to really notice a difference like this. So is this a case where having variable voltage would allow me to pinpoint the sweet-spot I'm looking for here?

Let's just say, if you were to buy an iTaste MVP 2.0, you will not be disappointed... :)

Thanks for the replies, I'm probably gonna be looking at a Spinner for my next battery. I love the idea of backups for backups for backups lol. I didn't think much of Variable Voltage when I first got into it, but now I can really see the benefits. I read someone's opinion of how certain fruit flavors tasted better at a lower voltage or something along those lines, and w/ this vanilla/blueberry I see how there definitely is a sweet-spot. Finding the right voltage/temp makes perfect sense. I love tinkering too, and I'm curious to find how different juices have varying sweet-spots.

As for clearo's, I don't see myself jumping to bottom-coils just yet. Definitely at some point, but I've read all about the pros/cons and not just yet. I've luckily gotten nothing but great customer service from my contacts on ebay, and when I order an Ego kit from this 1 guy, I get extra CE4's for $1 a piece. He's even given me a few rebuildable CE5's, and for the price I can't go wrong. Every new flavor goes in its own new clearo, and I've only had a single bad 1 outta 10 now.

I wasn't aware one had to be ready for the awesomeness that is VV and VW. No one told me, and I bought myself an iTaste VV v3 two weeks into vaping followed by an MVP 2 less then a week later. In fact, I started with a generic, VV, 650 mAh, passthrough ego style set up, and I'd have failed without that VV. I had to crank that power up when I had a craving, especially as I was still living with a smoker (he quit using the same set too since then). I set my sister up with a VV set, my mother in law, my husband, my IT director, my receptionists boyfriend (he jumped right into an MVP 2) and most recently my sister in law. Now I have the ideal wattages of my favorite juices memorized. I set watts to the juice I want, and if I need to change a coil it doesn't matter. The MVP 2 adjusts itself to the resistance of the coil. Bliss!

I think you're on the right track here. I spent about 2 months on a set voltage and when I got my first eGo Twist I really appreciated it. I do prefer the Spinner to the Twist.

I used CE4's after my first system and loved them. I still use them for a dependable vape option when I'm out and want something smaller than a RBA. IMO, if it's working for you, don't mess with it until you feel your setup is lacking something :thumb:

Very happy with Kanger mini-Protank II (genuine) and MVP2 (clone...). Variable wattage made a world of difference; much more flavor and satisfaction, and less hassles. Well-worth the small step in price -- recommended.

I bought a box of extra heads and swap daily. Then clean and dry burn used heads as required. Plenty of flavor and zero burnt hits.

I won't ever buy another device that doesn't let me do variable voltage. It doesn't have to be a high end system, just ego twists for vision spinners will do. Different people like differnet things, different juice tastes better at different voltages, air flow matters, etc, etc. So it's nice to be able to adjust until you find the sweet spot. I think brand new people just starting to vape should start with basic VV setups.

However, the thing you described here isn't going to be solved by VV.

Now something I've noticed, is if I take more than a few hits in quick succession, the coil obviously gets hotter and the taste changes. I can't say it's a burnt taste, cuz it's not getting to that point, but the deliciousness diminishes until the wick resaturates.

That's a wicking issue. If anything, vaping at a higher voltage is going to make it worse, because you can get more power to the coil easily, but the wick isn't going to wick any faster when you do it.

I'm using Kanger Protank 2's, pretty happy with them. I think they work a little better because they wick from the bottom, so gravity is working with you. Many tanks, like the vivi nova, wick from the top, so the juice has to travel against gravity.

I'm probably gonna get a spinner kit w/ a BCC of some sort, just to start testing the waters. It's the next logical step, but I definitely wanna have a 30 ml bottle of something good on hand. As of late, I'm just grabbing two 5 ml bottles a wk, down at the B&M. But I've been looking deals online, and I'm leaning towards giving Mt Baker a shot. I also like the idea of sample/variety packs, which I've been looking for.

I'd get a variable voltage just because it gives you a range to work with. And since playing around with my mods, I've found that I'm often too conservative on my voltage. When I started, I was under the impression that using voltage as low as possible would give me a cleaner flavor, but with some juices cranking it up does definitely improve the taste. So if you're upgrading, I'd recommend a vv/vw mod that will let you hit the high range even on high resistance cartos/coils.

May I ask what brand of vanilla/blue berry you are using. I think I might like that for one of my early morning puff sessions. Probably go good with a coffee as well.

As for VV I started with that but now use VW with Vamo. Same concept just different road. It does play a part but honestly have been finding major differences with different tanks and taste as well. I have one glass tank but it leaks all the time so don't use it much. Heard those give you a lot cleaner a taste than plastic tanks. Might need to try a different glass tank just to make sure that one wasn't defective. Glass tanks are just more expensive maybe need to do more research on that on another day.

So far I've gotten all my juice at a local B&M. I's some guy that has a little shop and makes it all to order right at the counter. ThBe 1st time I was in there I asked about blueberry, and he told me it's a subtle flavor by itself, and better to mix w/ something like vanilla. It is solid advice, cuz alot of the online vendors have similar combos. I love the taste of his vanilla ice-cream flavor, so I got that w/ extra blueberry flavoring. Such a great mix IMO. I had it mixed w/ french vanilla last time, and it didn't compare to this 1. He also has a vanilla cupcake flavor, but I'm not too crazy about it.

I french inhale all the samples now when I'm in there, cuz there really is a different depth of flavor. For some flavors it's not really an improvement tho, like w/ a fruity flavor really tasting perfumey on a french inhale. But w/ others it's great like the blueberry. I don't do it every puff, but I swear I get a better nicotine dose from it lol. It's something that definitely takes practice tho, I wasn't able to do it when I was younger, although I didn't ever try too much when smoking. Any type of wind or air movement will totally disrupt it so it's gotta be calm. And it just comes down to timing a nice solid nasal inhale, as you open your lower lip w/ a mouthful of vapor.

I would recommend the iTaste VV3 if you're looking for something a little better than a Spinner, which is a little better than a Twist. The iTaste has a very solid build and has similar VV range but if you ever get into building coils and such, it also has an ohm meter, and the square shape is nice... prevents it from rolling off tables. Aaaaannd it uses a micro USB to charge, which is super convenient if you use Android devices and such around the house.

As for the other inquiry about french inhale.. I can only do it directly from mouth to nose, without inhaling it into my lung first. I recommend practicing in front of a mirror, it really does look cool and if you do it with a minty juice (just make sure it's not too minty/menthol.. it'll burn), it gives a nice tingle in your nose. I usually do the drag into mouth, then kind of so a small underbite thing with my mouth to aim it upwards, then let it slowly flow out of your mouth while inhaling through your nose. You don't really have to blow out, but rather 'allow' the vapor to flow out of your mouth or pushing it out with your tongue.

Using the mirror is the best tip. When first learning how to do it, just start doing long mouth holds w/ the vapor, then slowly opening your mouth. You'l see how the vapor will linger and flow around. And when timed w/ the nasal inhale, that's how you nail it down. The way to polish it up is to learn how to direct it upwards w/ your bottom lip. But the mirror is definitely the best way to practice tho.

I was going to say that I have not been overly impressed with my 2 Joyetech EGO-C Twists. They get really REALLY hot at the connector. I end up alternating between them to give them cooldown time. That sort of defeats the purpose to me which is a portable consistent never think about it vape.

O.P., it sounds like a VV/VW might be in your future soon. Spinner is a nice ego style VV, the Itaste V3 does VW as well. V3 does have the ability to read ohms, which is always a plus, on the down side the battery is 800 MAH.

Hi Mryany, sorry your Twist aren't living up to your expectations. Hope everything is well with you, and wishing you Happy Holidays.
