Is this battery safe to use?

I just got a battery in the mail and the wrap on the top of the battery has been peeled off or something. See the pic. Just using this for my provari. Would this be safe? I don't see why it wouldn't be.

I wouldn't use it, I would send that picture to where I got it immediately and ask for a replacement.

Yeah, it was a throw in on something I bought off the classifieds. I got a lot of stuff, dude I bought it from said it would work but I just wanted to double check. I'll just chalk it up as a loss, not really worried about it. Its aw imr.

I don't see the ridge AW IMR batteries have just below the top. In a ProVari it will be fine, though, with a little electrical tape to cover the missing wrap...

Do yours have that ridge? Hard to tell with that angle.

I don't think there is a ridge. I'm not at home now but I thought there was a tiny spot the was metallic color not black. Don't know if that is the ridge or not

Different sizes, but they all have the ridge-

The ridge is definitely defined.

Don't know if you can see this ridge. All Genuine IMR AW batteries have this ridge. It is an indentation that rings just below the top of the battery.

The aw wrappers are thin. I had lots of them chip. mostly on the bottom

ran one in my provari with no wrapper for a long time

Sorry I didn't realize that was the ridge you were talking about. It definitely has the ridge. There is a tiny metallic spot at the top that's all I am worried about. The dude I bought it from said it worked fine.

The wrapper is there to prevent a short. You can either re-wrap or fix with electrical tape and it should be fine...

Dan, are there any markings on the outside of your battery? In both pics you posted there are none showing, but you might have them on the other side.
