samsung 18650 battery wrap peeling?

The top of my Samsung 18650 was peeling and i was wondering if its still safe to use in my mods? I have a smpl mod and ipv d2 would it be safe to use in them?

not in the SMPL... thats asking for an issue
not sure about the IPV tho, is the inside of the IPV plastic ( like the IPV4?) if its all plastic interior then that would be ok, nothing to short out on....

you should rewrap anyway tho

No, the internals of the D2 appear to be painted metal. There seems to be a little clearance so the battery doesn't touch the inside of the compartement, but then again:

Rewrapping costs pennies. Even a new battery will cost only a few bucks. Possibly killing your mod will set you back around $50 with the D2. And I'm not even getting into the possible physical harm due to venting.

Wraps are cheap and easy to install. I bet a hair dryer get's hot enough to do it. My heat gun was almost to much.

I don't view the SMPL mod as safe if it has any battery at all in it, although they can be perfectly safe Christmas tree ornaments if you remove the battery and stick a bent paper clip through the 510 hole. That said, Fat Daddy Vapes and RTDVapor both sell replacement wraps for 18650s, I happen to know. I wouldn't use a torn wrap battery even in a safe mod. That's a good way to get an autofire.
