Congrats on 8 days, and remember that these things do work. There were times after I hit 1 week that I doubted that they were the solution but stayed with the PV and haven't smoked now for 11 weeks and going longer and longer between the time when I feel I have to vape. No more waking up in the middle of the night having a nic fit, a nice change of pace after 22 years of marb reds

you will grow to hate cigs with all your heart.

i was forced to smoke cigs for a week due to the power outage here in the northeast after a year of vaping. i HATED them and was literally aching to get back to vaping.

good luck to you.

And just where was your USB car charger?

Belt and suspenders. Belt and suspenders...

Silly question i know.

Since starting to use my A580 ten days ago, i've now gone 8 days without smoking!!!!!

I've tried quite a few different ways of stopping during my 30 years of smoking (mostly rather stressful and all unsuccessful)and now i've stopped! Just like that. (I know, i know, its early days :p)

I just can't help but think this is cheating.

I'm not going to say it's easy, because its not. But so far this has been the least stressful way of quitting that i've found.

My thanks go out to all of you for all the information available on this forum.

Yeah, but isn't it great - and fun - to finally be able to ask a question like that?

And you have found out that this is like no other way to quit. No rules - you make up your own. No 12 week patch programs, where you end up a "loser" if you didn't 100% quit by the end of week 12. No guilt if you "fail" and have a cigarette. Have one if you must at some point - I'm betting each time you do you will like them less and less. Isn't that neat?

And keep that point in mind: both you and I had a 30 year smoking habit. If you can completely quit like BOOM! and you are never touch another one - fantastic! The way I looked at it: I gave myself 90 days to transition off cigarettes entirely. I figured for a 30 year habit, if it took me 90 days to quit completely that wasn't a bad trade off. In the first four days I went from a 1.5 PAD habit to 10 butts, to 6, to 6, to 4... that fast. In the remaining time I would have maybe between 1 to 3 butts a day - some days none. And the irony was every time I smoked one I disliked it more and more. In effect, smoking cigarettes while using my PV became more of a deterrent than anything else. In this process I never looked at smoking a cigarette as a failure. It wasn't an "either/or" thing in the absolute terms of other cessation methods.

So I did it my way, my rules. No cessation group director telling me I had not or did not quit, while offering nothing else. (According to them I really was cheating...) July 31st I found I had one cigarette left, smoked it, and that was the end of it for me.

Best of luck, you... you... cheater you! :thumb:

USB car adapter, a receptacle with clips to use the lawnmower battery, and looking at one of those little solar panels for powering USB stuff and recharging laptops. Also have neighbors that have cars that have batteries, and I know they don't own weapons.

Tell me I don't have a hurricane preparedness plan....

If e-cigs are cheating, I can't wait to become a full-fledged cheater.

I'm still easing myself off the tobacco cigs, but it looks like I'll hit my personal 'absolute quit' date goal without too much discomfort. I find I'm starting to crave my e-cig more than an analog- to me, that is a miracle all by itself!

I can't wait until I'm a Cheater with a capital 'C'!

I think it's the same as a Nicorette inhalator but battery powered and far more effective! I tried patches, gum and the inhalator but nothing was gonna help. Using the inhalator was uncomfortable to use in public as it looked a little bit too much like a feminine hygine product for my liking and didn't give me the hit I needed.

I've cut down massively in 10 days- I maybe have about 5 analogues a day (I have tobacco left over and I'm gonna use it on princple) but I feel like I'm cheating for actually smoking! I would call that some serious progress...

So no, using an E-cig is not cheating...if it works for you, it works for you and embrace it!x

You went through the same transition I did: "Hey! This things tastes pretty good!" It was nothing I was really thinking about or analyzing - as I vaped more I just smoked less. And very quickly too.

You will know when it's time. You will be down to that last cigarette in that last pack. And once it's gone the thought will occur to you should "wanna cigarette" rears it's head: "Do I really want to buy another pack of cigarettes, knowing I would smoke 20 more of them?" (Even if that might take a month...) And then something inside just says "Yuck!" and the craving passes and you pick up your pv and get through it.

Heya that is great news hearing you went 8 days!!! keep up the work, and are you cheating?? NOOOO WAY! just winning :D

I have gone from being a heavy smoker to stopping completely and just vaping since my delivery of new gadgets and you want to know something?.................................... I will never look back :D:laugh::D .. The pure smell of a analog smoke makes me cringe!!! im at work now, and just got back in from what use to be a "smoke break" and the fact im sitting with all the lads outside vaping makes me proud! and slightly sick at the same time due to the smell!! (Only reason I don't vape in the office is due to knowing I would use it non stop! hehe)

All the best and keep up the work =)

I've been catching some slack about, "not really having quit" since i'm still getting nicotine, but these are the same people the following week that are asking me for the websites that i bought my starter kits from. As to my own opinion, i know it's the healthier choice of the two and i still feel a bit of pride in myself for not using tobacco any longer.

Cheating? Hell no!
If you're in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

Congratulations on the 8 days; it's only going to get easier. From nearly 2PPD (Marlb Lights), after 5 days on the ePower I noticed how unappatizing the smell of cigs my friends were smoking was. Now, after 10 months, I find the smell of burning analogs completely offensive.
It was the most painless way to quit I had tried; from patches, to gum, to nic-stix, nothing could replace the feeling of exhaling a cloud of satisfaction. I ordered the PV as something to try, not planning on quitting outright -- at least not right away. The last analog that hit my lips was the morning I opened the box from madvapes, it worked so well. That was nearly 10 months ago.
Keep up the good work; your lungs will thank you! Happy vaping!
