VG is tougher on your lungs than PG from a coating and absorption standpoint, although both can irritate the lungs if you vape too heavily. If you just stopped smoking, you may be experiencing some of the effects of your lungs recovering. Most people who quit and vape report heavy cough discharge as the cilia in the lungs begin to bring up the tars from years of smoking. Smokers who quit go through a healing process as the cilia wake up from years of being drugged and deadened by tobacco. The first 6 weeks, you hack and cough and produce a remarkable amount of accumulation in phlegm.

You can help your lungs clear by inhaling deeply and holding it for15 seconds or so from time to time. The result is usually a productive cough afterwards and a feeling afterwards that you cleared your lungs a bit. I think that expands your Bronchial tubes and the lining of your lungs and helps open the wrinkles and folds, releasing some phlegm.

Drink lots of water to thin the secretions.
