Well, after an irritating bout this morning, with the Satin/Blue ProVari reporting 2 brand new carto's as OP and Lo, I decided to get my Fluke and check them myself. Haven't had a single DOA from this batch, but I suppose it is possible.
Fluke showed one of them at 1.9, and the other at 2.1 (both were supposed to be 2.0). Operable carto's imho.
So, I decided wth, and went to fire one of them up. Oops! ProVari power was still off (should have figured that out when it told me Lo, but I digress). Turned it back on, and thought to myself, "Self, I wonder if that's why I was getting bad measurements?". So I measured the carto resistance on the ProVari again and voila! ProVari measures an operable carto.
This must be considered normal operation, as my bronze/green mini performs in exactly the same manner.
I'm really surprised that all "off" means, is the switch is bypassed. I'm still able to adjust voltages, check
batteries and resistance (although the results are highly suspect when "off"). I would have expected it to refuse anything other than an "on" command. The PDF manual states that the settings can't be changed when "off", when in fact they can be (at least on my two units).
Are these things normal, or are both of my ProVari's in need of a trip back to ProVape?
