Just got my ProVari's today. A satin black/blue "full size" and bronze/green mini. Both seem to function quite well.

I did notice that I can get a .1 ohm variance between them, when checking the same coil. I used several different coils to verify what I'm seeing. In fact, I suspect the difference is in the black one, as the display initially shows the same resistance as the bronze one, then quickly "ticks" up that .1 ohms. Is this normal?

My Provari's will sometimes show a number, then correct itself and hold that number as the final measurement. I assume since it is measuring "under load" that the measurement varies somewhat for the couple of seconds it takes to make a measurement, and measurements are averaged by the Provari.

I've not tested the accuracy of ohm measurement with my two Provari's sampling from the same cartos. Since the atomizer reader on the Provari is considered to be so accurate, I'm guessing they will be within 0.2 ohms of each other.

Well, after an irritating bout this morning, with the Satin/Blue ProVari reporting 2 brand new carto's as OP and Lo, I decided to get my Fluke and check them myself. Haven't had a single DOA from this batch, but I suppose it is possible.

Fluke showed one of them at 1.9, and the other at 2.1 (both were supposed to be 2.0). Operable carto's imho.

So, I decided wth, and went to fire one of them up. Oops! ProVari power was still off (should have figured that out when it told me Lo, but I digress). Turned it back on, and thought to myself, "Self, I wonder if that's why I was getting bad measurements?". So I measured the carto resistance on the ProVari again and voila! ProVari measures an operable carto.

This must be considered normal operation, as my bronze/green mini performs in exactly the same manner.

I'm really surprised that all "off" means, is the switch is bypassed. I'm still able to adjust voltages, check batteries and resistance (although the results are highly suspect when "off"). I would have expected it to refuse anything other than an "on" command. The PDF manual states that the settings can't be changed when "off", when in fact they can be (at least on my two units).

Are these things normal, or are both of my ProVari's in need of a trip back to ProVape?

Just checked mine. They operate the same as yours do, so must be normal.

Thanks for the confirmation!

I can say, that whatever ProVape is doing to smooth out their PWM is awesome! These things produce the smoothest, cleanest vapor I've ever tried. The carto's don't snap/crackle/pop like on my other devices. Just a smooth steady hiss. 24 hours in, and I'm impressed :)

I was still vaping cartos when I got mine and I agree, the smooth carto kiss impressed me too.
