Is this normal?

So, I received my first rda today, the iGo-W, and immediately built a dual coil setup at .9 ohms. Using the same 12mg 50/50 juice I use as my ADV, I soaked the cotton wick and lit it up. Took a couple long drags and instantly got smacked in the face with a head buzz the likes of which I haven't felt since I was 13 years old, when I first started smoking. I should note I'm using an SVD at 4.8v and 10.5w, the same settings I use for my Protank 2 with microcoils wicked with cotton.

In fact, 30 minutes later I'm sitting here with my Protank 2 in my hand, hesitant to take a hit. Pretty significant given that I'm usually a hardcore chain vaper.

Is this typical, after switching up to an RDA? If so, how do you mitigate it? Do I now dilute my 12mg juices with lower nicotine juices?

I have a Taifun clone coming from fasttech, eventually, so I'd like to be prepared in advance.

Totally normal. Rda/rba' vape the juice more efficiently. That's why some call cartain builds "juice hogs" as they are just vaporizing more juice per hit you take. Its almost a rght of passage to drop nic content coming into the rebuilding world. I love the fact that I vape 0-6mg. nic and still meet my cravings of nic compaired to smmoking or my early days of vaping 36mg. nic. Just another reason to. Love dripping:vapor:

Sorry abut my mispellings, tonight. Is makers mark night...btw makers mark with my diy sweet tobacco( generic ry4 with peach) is frickig bliss...

You do realize that you don't vape 4.8 volts at 10.5 watts, right? You set the SVD to either volts OR watts. Also, the SVD shouldn't fire anything below 1.2 ohms. Are you sure about your resistance?

Get a mech mod. Also, go to the rebuildables section and read the thread on sub - ohm safety. The SVD SHOULDNT fire anything under 1.2ohms, or you can risk damaging it if it does.

Actually, I didn't realize that. I'm not an electronics guy, really. Apparently I'm suffering from some sort of placebo effect, because I swear I notice a difference when I change both settings. I'll have to do some experimentation now.

And yeah, I know the SVD shouldn't fire anything below 1.2, but that's what it reads.

It's not a placebo, because you're changing one of the settings. If you set it at 10.5 watts, and then switch it to voltage mode, and change that setting, then you're experiencing the change you just made to voltage.

Right, I get it now. The SVD is my first and only mod. Never realized that the two modes operated independently of each other.

Never took an electronics course in high school or college either, so my understanding of the relationship between volts, watts, and ohms is elementary at best.

That's why this site is so cool, to learn! No harassment, just good folks sharing some knowledge. :vapor:

Well, I'm by no means above admitting that I know precisely jack and shizz when it comes to most of this, and I'm learning as I go.

Blew through 4 ego style batteries and a dozen plastic clearomizers, before I invested in the SVD and Protank 2 a couple months ago; went straight from smoking to vaping last August. Always glad to learn and try something new.

^when it works half the time, what's your battery's capacity?

37, ph0n3 h0m3.

Sorry, but I can't help you much there. So far, I'm not a fan of sub ohm builds. I actually prefer about 1.2 ohms on a mech, so that .8 ohm build didn't last very long.

ETA: It's been a while, but I thought 7 was for L?
