I went to walgreens today and purchased "propylene gycol, USP" which, of course is right... but it doesnt say explicitly "food grade". The label is puny so I went to the website of the manufacturer. There is no online MSDS, only a mail form to receive one. The closest thing on the bottle that mentions food is

Notice: do not ship or store with poisonous or ill-smelling articls. This product might bee used in foods, feeds, drugs, or other containers.

So my question is "Is this food grade?"

Sorry... first time buying it and i need to cut some 24mg from an e-juice manufacturer. Any tips to cut it will help too! (12mg would be fine but 8 would be ideal)

Here is a very easy to use calculator. If you do cut it in 1/2 I would let it sit a few days before using. You may be surprised at how much of the flavor comes back depending on which flavoring was used :)

Oh and while it is steeping, I would shake it vigorously a few times a day

Thank you so much Salemgold for the tip about seeping. :)

Should I add any water to this or is it ok to just aid it straight? Sorry for the ignorance, trying to look on the forums about the answer to the water question and all im finding is recipe things -blushes-

The juice i have is v4l 24mg and i want to thin it out to 12ish. I understand the math to get it there (via 50% blend with new PG) but that water thing is throwing me off.

Also, if anyone can give tips as to "thinning out" a thick liquid - will PG work for that or should I just add a few drops of water?

Transfer some of the liquid to a small bottle and add 1-2 drops of water per mL of liquid.
Be cautious in adding drops, shake well and check how the liquid flows when you tilt the bottle back and forth.

I often thin premixed VG-based juices for my wife's cartos.

Thank you all so much for your help! I'm going to give it a try to about 5ml of one of the 24s. There's a pesky bottle that's not V4L that needs thinned (got all these on a trade ^^). All these great tips will help a great deal and possibly (if i can manage to not mess things up too royaly) give me an intro to tinkering... which may lead to adventurous concoctions so many of you have written recipes for.
