I took the battery off the charger and noticed this. Is this even safe to use again? I'm thinking probably not. Thoughts? Thanks.

I have a few red AW's that have done that....I re-insulate with electrical tape...leaving enough for contact to spring only. Make sense ? If what I see is correct....it is just a tear in the wrap ?
And to be honest almost all of my newer AW's have came with insufficient wrap on the bottom of batt.. QC issues ??
I also agree here too, just saying what I do...as I can actually see and hold my batts.
Yes, that makes sense. I wondered about doing the electrical tape thing. The tear in the wrap goes about half way around the battery bottom edge.
That's the way I am leaning towards thinking, too. I have 5 others and ordered 2 more yesterday.
Ugh. I hope that doesn't mean the rest of these are going to do that, as well. I would have to agree with QC issues.
I thought I was the only one...they must be having QC issues...I even put a note in with my last order and still got one like that....
That really stinks. I know they're not a lot of money, but still. It adds up.
at least 10 bucks a piece, then ya got shipping, shoestring budget here. So ya, I fix em. But I also meter and take care of em.
Yet somehow I have managed to save over $3000 in the past 2 years.
I do the same thing. I meter them every few charges when they come off the charger just in case.
Yes, that's what I am going to do. I'd feel pretty bad if I ruined one of my Provari's over a $10 battery. It's not worth the risk.
It's 4 weeks old. Rotated with 5 others (18650s and another 18490).

Just wrap it with a little elctricsl tape.. a small tear like that is NOTHING to fret about.. now if it was dented then I would buy a new one.

AW buys Panasonic batteries and wraps them with the red wrap. It's not a part of their original manufacturing. There's no reason to throw that battery out, especially if it's metering correctly. Stick a bit of tape on there and vape on.
What Frick said, I've got a battery that has a chip the wrap, but its only skin deep, I don't fret it, a dent or something that goes further down than the wrapper is something to worry about, but if its just damage to the wrapper and the battery is acting fine, I would keep it.
