Dead shorted in a nemclone when the pos screw sat into the rba too far I think.
When I loaded the new battery and fired it made the threaded areas super hot instantly.

I did this again after some puzzled fiddling. Pulled the battery and seen a clear liquid residue. It came out of the hole that was burned into the neg end of the battery.

If this was thermal runaway then it wasn't so bad.:p

I would consider that the battery did vent due to the battery contents having leaked out. Consider it to be compromized and dispose of it. This adds evidence that safe chemistry batteries vent less dramatically than a protected ICR.

This also shows that just using a ultra-high amp battery does not give any more protection against hard shorts than any other battery. They can fail and go into thermal runaway, too.

I put an AW 18350 IMR battery into a pocket that I had no idea had some coins in it. The battery got extremely hot and slowly vented hot gas by slightly popping its end. Had this been a protected ICR it would have looked like the below battery and vented gas AND FLAMES.

I'm glad you chimed in baditude.. I thought of you when I decided to take pics and show the result.

I took the battery back to the b&m to see if they had some sort of disposal method or system they used but they did not. It would seem beneficial to the vape community if someone were to pop up and offer proper disposal services to these outlets..

A lot of these folks need a little general safety pamphlet that is handed out freely for the sake of education.. Evidence like this can be used to curb the fear element that would likely rise in a newbie upon reading a safety pamphlet.

Searching the forum I found this post.
I just experienced this last night with my setup using a MNKE IMR 1500mah, the battery didn't vent or leak. I took it out to the garage and let it sit in a ammo box that is vented just in case. I marked the battery and I bought a new one this morning.

I'm guessing that this battery is done. Am I correct or could this be used again? Thanks in advance for any input.

Yes dont use it.

Even further, any battery you think might be "a no no" should be tossed. Its not worth trying it again and ruining your mod and/or pants or worse.
