I just purchased the Phoenix rebuildable atty from Discount Vapers and want to attempt making coils/using cotton wick etc. I found this on E-Bay and just wanted to double check that I'm on the right track and not getting ready to poison myself!:p

32 ga, 100 ft, Nichrome Resistance Wire, Nikrothal 80 on eBay!

Thanks in advance for any help/advice you can give!

Swamp:

I ordered a pair of those clones last week, so I am looking forward to your experience.

I need to figure out a paypal account for this stuff *sigh* I have been wanting to try a few gauges thicker & thinner than the usual for the coils.

Out of curiousity, has anyone come up with a definitive method for figuring the dimensions of the SS sheet cut to roll the wick?

First time oput, I just rolled the entire sheet. Next time, I cut about a quarter and rolled only that. This is an awful lot of guessing, and I am already spending too much "guessing".

You are aware that Stormy's and Madvapes arry the nichrome and SS mesh? DV will certainly get stock eventually. (Hear that Eric? We need nichrome and SS 400..500# mesh! ;-)

I believe I did see it on those sites (or maybe it was another site?) but if I remember correctly, it was in 20 ft. increments only? The stuff I got was in 100 ft. increment. What will I do w/ 100 ft.? I dunno?!:p

But it seemed more was better...at least that's what I'm gonna tell myself! I have done soooo much surfing over the last few weeks regarding vaping - both here at ECF and searches etc. I feel like my head is swimming in info & I'm still trying to parse it all.

Honestly, with only 60 or so days in with vaping, I'm a little worried that rebuildables are a little over my head with all this "coil/wick building" but I got the "fever" listening to all Y'all here at ECF and I gotta try.

Hell, I didn't know anyone personally who reloaded ammunition when I started into that but; I took my time, did a LOT of research and amassed a HUGE amount of questions and stumbled onto a lot of good folks afterwards that helped me along.

Plus, being a Florida Redneck of sorts - I have a little bit of the "Hey, watch this" in me so, this will all either work out fine or go horrifically awry, either way it should be entertaining...and was a good excuse to buy a Multimeter last night.:p

Once again, thanks Y'all for all the help so far!

Oy! Rednecks, drunks, trucks, fences and concerts.. The image..! ;->

Oh, hot doggies - a fellow reloader ;-) Alas, I ain't mounted/deboxed my lee classic turret since I "moved".. Bench is buried in wiring, tubing, tools, solder gear.. gah.. It's a freakin' addiction!

Actually, to be fair: I think the desire to tinker is there, but it's also trying to remake this junk.. Silk-purse/sow's-ear schtick. So much of what we thought is "good" is really "made in taiwan" style. (I just re-embodied a tube-cracked CE6 in a 10ml B-D syringe.. New standpipe & centerpipe as well.. Since the ceramic cup broke, I am trying to decide between trying Sculpy-clay for an insulator-area and then a SS wick or cotton-twine|cheesecloth). If it works, I may ship it off to nephew as a throwaway, or.. maybe not - 10ml would make me very happy ;->

I think the SS wicks are the way to go. I really do. Easier to maintain, lest junk to muck up yer body - and THEY can be reused, even if you need a new coil. Tanks are something I plan to tinker more, since I see only a need for 3 parts done on a lathe or mill.

Reloading *sigh*.. maybe I need to sell the 30/06 and get a 243 to force myself to show interest again ;-)

For some mesh, I hear a lot of people going here:

The Mesh Company (Warrington) Ltd #400 Super Fine Filtration Mesh - 25 Micron

I ended up getting a square foot of 400 from ebay

As far as knowing how much mesh to use for a wick......it really all depends on a lot of factors:

what kind of attomizer is it, do you need it to wick more, do you need it to wick less yadda yadda.

the idea when experimenting with yer first wicks is to record the dimensions you started with, try it out. if something about it doesn't work for you then try a lil more or lil less.

I prolly went through about 10 or more wicks when I got my G-Tank and eventually found my "wick-number".....(ya know.....like Sleep-Number ;) great beds BTW). it's a 20mm x 35mm 400 SS hand rolled without a pin or needle to get perfect wicking with no flooding and no running dry. it's tedious at first but now that I have the magic number it takes seconds to make a new wick. although making a new wick doesn't happen very often as 1 SS wick can stand up to a lot of coil changes.

oh yeah, and what to do with 100ft of wire? get this, if you use about 3in of wire to easily make a coil thats 400 coils. if you made a fresh coil every week thats about 7.5 years worth of coils, if you can get a coil to last 2 weeks at a time the about 15 years. that's a lot of coils and a lot of years for about $8. yes, rebuildable atomizers, like many things e-cig related will definitely pay for themselves in the end.

GL, see you on the other side....

Yeah, I'm currently reloading only for 5.56 and 9mm but, I'm getting ready to start loading for 7x57mm for my 1907 custom built Mauser (Made for my Mother's Great Uncle in the original Oberndorf factory - NOT a bubba gun ;-p ). So, the pressures are much less than what you get from today's factory loads.

Hey! At least I can vape when I reload! Another plus!! Smoking analogues+Reloading = BAD NEWS!

Thanks again guys for all the advice!
