Hi guys,
I'm in a pinch as my shipments of wire/coil are still delayed.
I have found some Nichrome Resistance wire at a local electronics store, is this safe to use ?
Used for wiring heating elements etc. 80% nickel, 20% chromium. - Resistance 13.77 ohm per metre.- Size 28 B&S (0.315mm).Pack of 4 metres.
EDIT:
Some additional info I found. To my understanding its all bad lol.
Kanthal is roughly 75% Iron, 20% Chromium, 5% Aluminum
Nichrome 60 is roughly 25% Iron, 15% Chromium, 60% Nickel
Nichrome 80 is roughly 20% Chromium, 80% Nickel
Nickel is poisonous, Aluminum causes Alzheimer, and Iron causes "fume metal fever" as listed above.
Quote:
Chronic inhalation exposure to nickel in humans also results in respiratory effects, including a type of asthma specific to nickel, decreased lung function, and bronchitis.

Chronic inhalation exposure of humans to manganese results primarily in effects on the nervous system. Slower visual reaction time, poorer hand steadiness, and impaired eye-hand coordination were reported in several studies of workers occupationally exposed to manganese dust in air.

Chronic inhalation exposure to chromium (VI) in humans results in effects on the respiratory tract, with perforations and ulcerations of the septum, bronchitis, decreased pulmonary function, pneumonia, asthma, and nasal itching and soreness reported.
