Is Variable Voltage really that useful or is it overrated?

It seems to me that I always use 4.5V and it works the best for me. Anything higher and I tend to get dry hits, and anything lower doesn't seem to satisfy. The way I see it, we don't smoke "variable" analog cigarettes so is variable voltage really that necessary? What's wrong with just use one fixed(but powerful voltage like 4.5 or 4.8) and using a standard resistor (like 2.4 Ohms). It seems to me that this combination gives plenty and vapor and strength comparable with cigarettes. thanks

Sounds like you use one setup all of the time. Not all of us do. I use an rba at home, but a clearo out and about. I prefer a 2.4ohm head on my vivi nova, but a 2ohm head on my ProTank. I use different juices. I know from experience that all of the possible combinations I encounter on a daily basis require some tweaks to the output of my PV.

Different strokes for different folks! I have an MVP and a Vamo and use the VV on both. From day to day...juice to juice...my tastes vary. In the morning I like to turn the voltage down some to get a weaker hit. I crank it up as the day goes on though. Some juices don't do well with high voltage. Some don't do well on lower. I also have a rotation of carto tanks, Vivi Novas, iClear 16's and ProTanks that all have different resistance. VV is a must for me.

In general I leave mine at the same setting for an entire clearo... But, when I change flavors, each one has it's "ideal" voltage for what I like.

Also, with a VV, the gf and I can share when she wants to try out a flavor, because she likes the voltage a bit lower than I do.

Because we vape with many different resistances for many different reasons. If you could always create or buy an atomizer resistance or coil that matches your battery, well then you wouldn't, you'd have a mod, which is growing ever more popular. But if you want to try one of the dozens, perhaps, hundreds of different "toppers" out there, you have to have variable voltage to adjust the vape to suit your preference.
