I have had my eVic for not quite a week and at first I was really loving it, but that has all changed. Prior to the eVic all I had was an eGo Twist. When I first got it I felt like I was getting a better vape than on the eGo Twist, but lately it just isn't a good vape at all. It is randomly powering off, sometimes in the middle of a puff. I have checked and re-checked all of the settings and everything looks like it is good to go. I am running the latest firmware also. Even when I crank it up to 11W it just seems like it has no power. I find that switching back to the eGo Twist gives me a better vape and much more vapor. It does seem better in the morning with a full charge, but currently it isn't hardly vaping at all and the battery is still at 50%. Is there really that much of a voltage drop on it? I should also note that I am using a Kanger ProTank on it and have been since I got it. I have tried some carto tanks and while they seem to be slightly better, it still isn't like it was 6 days ago.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, however I feel like I am ready to go get something else for my dedicated all day vape device.

After I started this thread it occurred to me to try it in pass-thru mode while charging. That made all the difference and was more like it was before. So it does look like there is a significant voltage drop. I was not aware of this in any of the reviews I looked at unless I missed it. Since I did not buy it brand new and purchased from a private party, is it possible that the battery is going bad? If so, is there a way I can check the battery to determine this? It holds a charge really well and after all day of vaping I am rarely below 45%. I am using the Samsung 18650 that came with it.

How are you charging the battery? Using a external charger, or using the USB cable? I've found that using the USB cable doesn't charge the battery as well as if you were to use an external charger.

Also is this the only battery you have for your eVic? If so then you might want to invest in another battery. Doesn't hurt to have a backup! Myself I have 3 for my eVic that I use in rotation.

Ok, fresh off the charger I have verified that the battery is at 4.17V. Yes, this is the only battery I have for it. I was holding off on buying more until I determined if I like the eVic or not. I didn't want to get a battery that I may not be able to use in another device. Fresh off the charger it seems to work pretty well, however by about mid afternoon it's feeling really week. Also, something else I have noticed is that every time I put my ProTank on it seems to read the Ohms differently. I can understand a slight variance from time to time, however yesterday it was reading at 2.5 Ohms and today it is reading at 2.0 Ohms. Could it be that my coil is going bad and causing an erroneous reading? And yes, I am charging it through the unit via USB. I currently don't have a charger or additional batteries although will be getting some soon.

Did you check the coil head is screwed in all the way down into the base of your protank? I'm wondering if it is caused by a poor connection...

i have two protanks, when I took it out of its packaging, both coil pack that was preinstalled into the base were not tightened all the way down, check this first, as this may be the cause of poor vaping because the center positive post in the 510 connection may be connecting intermittently...

Yes, I did check this. I have cleaned everything a few times and always made sure it went back together tightly. I did have the same problem you mentioned straight out of the box. I rebuilt the ProTank coil this evening and that has helped a lot. I got rid of the silica wick and used cotton and also made a micro coil. Seems to work much better now, although I still think the eVic feels underpowered.

A few things to note - A failing battery will still read proper voltage. It will not handle LOAD.
Could be as simple as getting a replacement.
I have NOT charged any of my batteries in the eVic since purchase. Always use a decent External charger.

A few things to go over:
Clean all threaded areas - Battery Cap, tube threading, 510 and Ego threading.
Scuff Battery pin under Head with 220 or 400 sandpaper
Slightly stretch Spring to reduce shut off when setting unit down.

Random Power OFF during a Draw, with a nominal Coil(1.8-3.0 ohm) indicates a failing Battery.

Thank you. Looks like I will be going to get a new battery tomorrow. After reading your post, I am really thinking it is a battery issue also. It just does't cape nearly as well as my eGo Twist which has less power. I had just thought when the battery started failing that it wouldn't hold a charge either, but I guess that may not be the case with this one. Also, the fact that it vapes way better while plugged in even with a full charge is another indication to me that it is a battery issue.

THANK YOU crxess!!! I picked up a new battery today and it has made a world of difference. As soon as I dropped the new battery in, I got a huge throat hit and tons of vapor that I never got before. She's a rockin' now!!!

Efest is Decent. I use the 18350's in short mode.(Mini-eVic:D)

Panasonic CGR18650CH are Excellent. Amazon usually runs a special on 4 around $25.

As for youe Coil readings - eVic is Fast Read. i.e. eVic detects your Tank the instant the center pin makes contact. If you are screwing it on slowly it will usually read a little high.(still loose when read)
You will also see a difference between a warm coil and one that has sat idle for a while.(normal)
For a dead accurate reading, turn eVic off. install tank. Power on.:)
