In my opinion, I think they should do a recall. There are many with glitches like VV to VW switching and cutting off. But that still leaves the very serious potential for explosions. I would suggest not leaving an atty on it overnight. My episode happened when I went to the kitchen one morning to get another cup of coffee. When I returned to the couch, I saw the thing start firing by itself just sitting there on a coffee table. it would go the 10 seconds and shut off, then immediately fire again for 10 seconds, etc. The buttons would do nothing to cut it off or change anything. By the time I thought to remove the atty, it had cycled 3 times that I know of and was very hot. Though relatively few have done this, I strongly advise you to keep an eye on yours. I still use one of mine and still like it but take the atty off when not in use. :) Forget blamin a little charger.:2c:

I've only had my istick 50W for a few weeks. I had to wait for the local B&M vendor to restock before I could buy it. Mine may be a recent revision. On the bottom plate there's an etched label that says CE 4400mah 5V---1A. The 1A rating should refer to charging rate since high voltages paired with lower resistances produce much higher output amperage at the atty coil.

I've heard of auto fire malfunctions. Mine hasn't done that so far. I could see how batteries could get overheated if it was constantly firing for 10 seconds repetitively without some rest time.

Also got high res pictures of the damage and burntness haha just message me and I'll inbox them.
There have been so many returns that it's been reported that iSmoka is requiring you to have the original box and receipt to get a warranty. Vendors are having to video the problems. My local vendor in this little AL town has had several returns. But I'm still vapin on one right now with a Lemo 2 at 30w but it does the VV/VW dance and cuts off occasionally. It is considered faulty by iSmoka.

I have 2 of the first batch from a co-op and they have the same etching. Charging ain't the problem.:2c:

Not the first time someone mentioned this with the actual charger itself. I absolutely refuse to use it. Even the eleaf brand wall adapter gets hot and makes the mod hot in a matter of 5 minutes. I won't use something that gets hot that fast. I charge mine using the USB cable and have it plugged into my laptop. Not once has it gotten warm. Glad you're okay though and weren't holding it.
Be careful doing this. It killed two laptop batteries on me.

I called ismoka and told them about this situation and was hung up on 2 just trying to give them my email address and then lied to about asking to speak to a supervisor and also asked why I wanted to speak to one.. The supervisor I did speak with did seem kinda concerned other wise, no one else did.
I emailed them 5 times with no reply and the phone number I got on their site at the time had a recording that said "We are currently closed". I gave up and sent mine back to my co-op guy. He took it apart and finally got it to stop running. There was no juice in it.The buttons were fine. It is still wonky. :) iSmoka replaced it as well as several others from the co-op. I'm waiting for him to send the replacement with some tanks I bought from him in another co-op when they come in to save return shipping.

I have a 50w as well. I haven't had any problems with it getting hot nor exploding, luckily. I'm going to have to keep an eye on it though, this is very unnerving.
I'm not tryin to get anybody in a panic, and very few that I know of have had serious problems, but guys just be careful with them. I hope my new one won't have problems and I still use the one I have and really like it. They have been reported to be working to resolve these issues but in the meantime......

Totally understandable, i love my iStick. However, I'm just going to be more aware of it being plugged in.

As far as you all know, is the problem unique to just the 50w models right now?

I have a few istick 20's and 30's but don't have a need for 50w. Every time I read something like this, it scares the begeebees out of me. I guess I'm a careful battery user, never leave anything on a charger, never vape it immediately and keep all charging units on a spare marble tile on top of my marble bathroom counter. Off to find battery bags to further ease my mind.

Haven't heard anything of a 20 or 30 blowin up so I think you're safe. Battery bags are a good idea but every one of the 50's that went BLS were not on the charger at the time. Just sayin :)

I'm new to this part of reddit I'm usually on the e-cig site but I have been trying to tell people this is a bad product for a while now. Elief has the worst customer service I've heard of. They will not honor a warranty unless you purchased the product directly from them. If you bought it from an online vendor or a B&M they will not warranty it. Also, if you use a tank other than one made by elief that voids the warranty. It's in the manual. Further there have been numerous complaints of these devices catching on fire while on chargers. Never leave them unattended while charging.

Please tell me you weren't trying to charge something from the laptop batteries without the laptop being plugged into the wall.

That's not a problem with the laptop, that would be called user error.

iSmoka is the one that warrants these. You can get your eLeaf mod replaced through your vendor as I have and others also.
