Awesome, thanks! My wall charger says "Output 5.0V." Is that okay? And can I plug the charger directly into my computer's USB?

You should be able to plug it directly into the computer. Some USB ports can't handle more than an 1 amp, though, and require a powered USB hub. That charger should be fine.

That should work - generally you want a charger that is less than the rated mAh of the battery. That specific one is 20 maH more than the 400 mAh eGo you have, but with a variance of less than 5%, it probably is OK. I would try to find one that is 350 mAh or less, though, if you want to play on the cautious side... I bought a 200mAh USB style one, can't remember from where. I was going to put in a box mod - that could be perfect for these smaller style eGo batteries.

Spot on tech dude.

Thinking about it, this is something that many people, even some of the more experienced vapors have forgotten. Most know not to charge a 510 battery on an eGo charger. The eGo mini has about the same mAh rating as a 510 mega. So the eGo mini should be charged on a 510 charger, rather than a eGo charger.

That is my Accucel 6 balance charger. As you can see, it's much more advanced than most chargers ecig users are use to.
This thing will charge up to 6 Lithium-based batteries at once and monitor each cell individually. I got this for the use of LiPo batteries for my RC planes/helis but might end up using it for my 18650s as well to get the most power and life out of them.

Right. I find it a little disconcerting that vendors sell these types of batteries without chargers and without a recommendation of the type of charger that should be used with them.

I charge my ego mini 400mah with a 420mah output ego charger daily, never had any heat issues or explosions..

Yet. Risk of failure only increases as the cell ages and mAh drops. There is a reason 510 batteries have a lower output charger. The mini is essentially a 510 mega.

It's actually a VERY simple calculation.

2500 mah battery = 2.5 amps MAX
3000 mah battery = 3 amps MAX
500mah battery = 0.5 amps MAX

etc etc

That's nice. Most racing car R/C enthusuiasts use these since the balanced charging gives them a serious competitive edge as the power is optimized for each battery. A little overkill for vaping, but nice just the same.

One of the positives though is that charger can discharge batteries appropriately. So if I have some full batteries for my pv that I need to put into storage, I can use this to discharge them to 50% exactly.

I can also cycle batteries with this charger ... which helps prolong cell death.

It is very simple, but you see these questions on the forum all the time. Not everyone has the electrical knowledge as some of us do.:)

Yeah, if you go to a RC forum ... there is almost ALWAYS a Battery explanation thread stickied. They find it much more important that we as a community do and honestly, that really should change.

Lithium-based batteries are NOT toys and it is essential people take proper care of them.

Yeah, those types of chargers have a lot of smarts built into them. Can do pulsed charging and ramped charging and other goodies I don't even know about - really great for the premium batteries used for R/C.

Those guys really take their batteries seriously:)

I was looking at an R/C site that sells these and am thinking of picking one up or something similar. The battery conditioning and discharge capability are very nice features. The description for the Accucell 6 says that the power supply is not included; what is the type power supply needed? A type of wall wart?

Flame-......ant charging bags? I'll definitely check those out, thanks!
Here is one step better charging bag in a tin. Get you a tin of butter cookies eat all the cookies;-) cut a small hole or slot for the cord place the charger in the bag and the hole thing in the tin. Also if you charge on you PC or lap top is a good idea to get a USB hub then if theres trouble you only out 15$ for the hub verses 500$ + for a new puter.

Wow.. I am glad you are OK!
I am totally OCD when it comes to checking my batts as they are charging (eGos)..that tendency came in handy when the body of one of my batts got very warm while charging. I disconnected everything and not immediately knowing what to do with it, I put it in a huge heavy eathenware pot with a heavy metal top and put the whole arrangement in my kitchen sink :p (dry of course, lol) for a couple of days and them I disposed of it.
I'm getting a couple of those LiPo bags for real.

I would like to make the jump to a mod but for whatever reason, charging the batts separate from the unit just wigs me out.
Then it occurred to me that I have never had anything that utilized batts that were charged separately from a unit; either it it was an unremovable part of the unit, or it utilized disposable batts.
I saw this charger http://www.amazon.com/NiteCore-IntelliCharger-i2-Charger-charging/dp/B009JMDD9U/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=1EIVERXDOOR1L&coliid=I2EBGAJ4FRHQ3S and was thinking of getting it, would this be ok for the AW IMRs or any make/model batt I would use for an ecig (mod, that is)?

Honestly, there are a lot of folks who don’t know that much about the finer points of electronics (like me) and what is plain as day to some is Greek to others, lol, Ecigs still being such a new niche, one can never be too careful, lol
