Hi, everyone

Did some research, but still have questions regarding recent cases of istick 50w exploding. This week there was 1 more, someone let it charge overnite, which I know is not recommended... but I dont see many details about it, if the guy was using the 50w model... It just mentions istick.

- I have a relatively new istick 50w and 2 istick 30w, I even prefer the 30w, somehow I get more of a hit. Should I let go of my istick 50w due to safety reasons?

I saw many posts on explosions with 50w and just a few regarding the 40w.

- Does it make a difference charging it on USB or wall outlet?

- If I have it shut down, is there still risk of explosion during changing? I imagine not... :) From what I understand, that only happens if I keep it ON and it heats up too much, no? Or auto firing, right?

So its enough to keep it connected to power, but shut off, or better remove power cord from it?

Thank you!

I have always had good luck with my Eleaf istick 50 watt---had it for a year now--------I always turn it off when charging so I can see the display better.

I never go to sleep and leave my ecigs charging----always turn off and have that piece of mind......

Same here, have several of the newer devices and they have been great. I shut them off when I am not using them and turn them off during charging when I'm at home. I've checked them during charging and they really don't even get warm.

I believe it was the first release that caused the majority of the problems.

My istick 50 has been nothing short of amazing.

It's been dropped. It's used daily at work and kept in my front pocket ( with power off)
Juice spilled all over it....it has autofired one time and that was because it was still in the break in phase and the button was kinda stuck.

I'd buy another one for sure. It stick ranks in the top 3 of all time for me.

Also the size of it is amazingly small and will fit in the front pocket with a lemo 2 attached.

Break in phase, really? based on that logic you would expect tv remotes to "auto fire".

I did a lot of research and what I found was that when they first came out a year ago the quality control pretty much sucked. Then they shut down the factory for a bit before cranking out a better product. Lately it seems most mishaps have been due to user error. That being said, I opted for a clone when I purchased mine a month ago.

Northern NJ native , Coastal NC now.
Interested, at least if nonremovable batts. Can you name them please?

So you are saying you want something with built in batteries is that correct ? Sorry if i misunderstood.

You would be blown away with how cheap stuff is being sold for that was very pricey and considered top shelf not to long ago.

The Sig 75 watt all aluminum temp controlled mod is selling for $34.95 at some places , the Sig 50 watt was $19.95 a few days ago .

Why people still buy these "junk" mods from Eleaf and the like is beyond me , even Phil Busardo said they were at the very bottom in regards to quality.

Visiting the "clearance" sections on many popular e cig sites is a gold mine of cheap top quality stuff.

I picked up two all stainless steel authentic Evolv DNA mods for $32.00 each awhile back and picked up upgradeable all aluminum 60 watt mods with authentic YiHi chipsets for around the same price.

Got to look around though , "DFW vapor" in their clearance section has Authentic Innokin MVP 30 watt mods available in all colors for i believe $24.95 . These are superb mods that are built like tanks with built in charging capability not only for the mod but other devices as well .

The key is to take the time to shop around , most don't and just buy whatever seems popular .

My first istick 50 lasted maybe 8 months. The button went screwy. Second one is a couple months old and flawless so far. I would have gone with the kbox 70 had it been available at the time I had to replace the first one. It's basically an istick 50 twin anyways, just has nicer buttons. But as for safety, I haven't had one even get slightly warm while charging. And I've had two 20w, one 30w and two 50's now.

Thanks a lot for replies. Ileaf never mentioned anything? I also like the istick a lot, I have the 30 W, the 10W also, etc. I even prefer those over 50W which is too big/heavy and I have impression it gives me less of a hit.

Some questions remain.

- Does it make a difference charging it on USB or wall outlet?

- is it same if I keep it SHUT OFF and connected to power versus keeping it unconnected? I imagine so, right?

So the issue is really autofiring if its on. IMHO they should make this clear. The truck driver recently who had an issue and the guy last week who kept it charging overnight, articles/TV mentioning about it could be more productive, explaining how to avoid... I guess they should say, when charging, keep it shut off, dont charge it overnite, when charging try to see if it gets too hot...

Thanks!

Make sure you have a 1 amp wall adapter not a 400 ma or so phone charger.
Manufacturers really should start including wall adapters with built-in-battery devices.

It scares me when people chime in and say "hey, mine has been great" as they are all great, until they aren't anymore. It wasn't worth the risk, to me, using a device that has even the slightest reputation of being dangerous to use, even when operated per instruction.
Sad that you do not drive.

Ah, so there is a little troll in you! lol

I realize any product can be hazardous. You know what I mean, goofball!
Yep, just thought I would throw that in.

imho the biggest problem with the Istick 50 is the charging circuit.
For me I will buy no built in battery mods.
