iSub Clapton Coils

Hi,

I currently am vaping using a Cool Fire IV mod with a standard iSub tank and 0.5ohm coils. I am looking at getting the new Apex 5ml tank and was wondering if I would need to change my coils?

I have seen the new iSub clapton coils but have no idea what they do and how they are different?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have just seen that when you buy the apex 5 it says recommended wattage 35-70. I only vape 20watts, so is it the clapton coils or the apex 5 tank that you shouldnt vape below 35 watts on? Im confused!

You can use the same coils in both the iSub & the Apex. The recommended range for the 0.5Ω clapton coils is 35-70 watts.

A clapton coil is made by wrapping a higher gauge (thinner) wire around a lower gauge (thicker) wire. Lots of wire to hold the juice and lots of wire to heat up to vaporize the juice. Check youtube if you are interested in seeing how a clapton coil is made.

The reason the ranges are higher on the 0.5Ω clapton has to do with the amount of wire that is used to make a clapton. More wire requires more power to vaporize the juice. You could try running them at 20 watts but it probably will not be enough power to heat up the clapton coil.

It is a recommended power range for the head not the tank.
replacement head / head is a coil & wicking material in a one piece replaceable unit.
The replacement heads for the isub, isub g & apex are interchangeable.

Clapton is the style/type of coil used inside the head, they usually need more power to work well.
Thicker gauge wire wrapped tightly with a thinner gauge wire, resembles a guitar string = clapton.

+1. You can't hurt anything by vaping lower than the recommended watts-- the reverse is not true-- but you might not be putting enough watts on the coil for it to work properly. This can cause weak vapor production or lengthy ramp up times. My suggestion is try one and see.

Thanks for your help! I think the Apex comes with 2 clapton coils so I will try them but go back to my standard 0.5 ohm coils if needed
