It was the velocity v2,and lightning vapes Clapton wire powered by a Tesla invader 3
I actually done this a few times but only with builds intended for TC. Originally when learning to build for TC I would double check a dry fire on dry cotton to make sure things were good, once or twice they were not and they went up in flames near instantly. One other time I thought I had a good build in while first playing with the Cuboid, the power was up quite high for the preheat punch and the test fire went up in flames pretty quick with wet cotton. Live and learn I guess, never had issues outside of test firing and never with anything other than TC builds that were not right.
Edit: perhaps should be clear, only the cotton wick was up in flames, I am assuming this is what you mean.

I've had coils combust while I was dry burning them, when they had some residual cotton in them. I blow them out and make a wish.
Must have been a slow day on the aluminum line and someone swapped out and sent magnesium instead.
Let me guess, you removed the cotton and dry burn the coil and the coil make a small flame. That's normal a when some cotton stay on the coil, a few hair is enough.
Since steel can't burn, all that's left is the insulator. Many people mistakenly "tweak" their coils at FULL power and long burns. It's not uncommon (especially with a clone) that the insulator actually melts and catches fire.

I've had this happen while rewicking I think it was just residual juice kinda neat to watch though lol
