Hello everyone! I'm new to vaping and just got my setup last Friday. I have the Riva 510 with Boge LR cartomizers. I got my juice from Kalamazoo Vapor Shop. I got a sampler of some tobacco flavors and 2 different menthols because I smoked menthols for 35 years. Since it came I have only smoked 9 analogs which is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G for me. I was a 2 pack a day smoker up until very recently when I went on Chantix. With Chantix I really think I could have quit completely but I missed the experience of smoking, if you know what I mean. The juice I got is 12 mg. nicotine. I thought since I wasn't sure I wasn't still craving nicotine I would get a low dose and hopefully taper to 0 eventually. I haven't had that 'I have to have a smoke right now' feeling at all and plan to keep my promise to myself that when my analogs are gone (I have 3 more) that I will never buy them again. I do find the ecig enjoyable but it just feels like something is missing. I can't quite put my finger on what it is. I think its the warmth maybe  I find myself double and triple toking to get more heat. Does anyone know what it is I'm trying to describe, LOL, and do you have any recommendations? I have another order coming from Kick Bass Vapor and went with some flavors other than tobacco which I can hardly taste at all. I found that very strange because when I opened up the bottles the tobacco scent was strong and yummy smelling but zero taste. I've mostly been vaping the menthol flavors I got. :vapor:

Sounds like you missing the tobacco alkaloids. Try upping you nic level a little. It took me a few months on 48mg and then 36mg to get off analogs completely, but that's not typical.
I hate chantix almost wrecked my marriage, made me a different person.

For warmth you might try a inexpensive 5volt box mod (ex 5v Regulated Mod | Ken's Box Mods) and a standard resistance atty. This combo helped me when I needed more throat hit.

Sorry to hear that about your experience with Chantix. I have had no problems with it at all. Been on it for 3 months now and still taking it. I really, really want to stop the nicotine addiction even if I continue to vape.

Try 18 or 24 mg of nicotine. Maybe thats it. I vape 18mg.

Also, nicotine is NOT the only addictive substance in cigarettes. You could be missing the other addictive chemicals. It will pass though.

Hopefully you are right. I really hesitate to up the nicotine levels as I want to be un-addicted, lol.

I imagine the chantix is affecting the vaping experience. What you should do, I can't say.

But I will say this - that nicotine intake is a minor concern compared to all the extras that go with smoking.

While on the chantix maybe it is best to vape zero nic. Doubt it is wise to mix chantix with nicotine intake.

As others have said try upping the nic level. You can worry about lowering it later if you want but right now just work on finding something that's going to satisfy you the best way possible.

If it's warmth your lacking your probably going eventually want to go to a higher volt or variable volt device. This can provide more heat to the atomizer. LR is good for giving a similar effect but not the same.

Something else I'd recommend if you like menthol is getting some premixed menthol drops or menthol crystals you can mix yourself. When you find some liquids you like then experiment with adding the drops or crystals to it, you can control the coolness that way and I've had much better success doing it that way then trying to find a pre-mixed menthol liquid that I like.

Nice feature with a manual switch, like your Riva, is that you can "preheat" the oven. Simply push the button down for a count of about 2 before you draw on it.

Even at that I find myself warming a carto up with a couple of puffs first quite often.

I wasn't sure if I could do that without causing damage but I will try it. Thanks!

I'm hoping the KBV juice that is coming will have more flavor. I suppose it could be my taste buds are just dead from smoking for 35 years, lol.

If you love the warmth then try CE2 XL clearomizers. After using these for a few months anything else tastes cold and stale, they have a lovely warm vape because the coil is close to your mouth. They also produce clouds of satisfying vapour and give loads of flavour too.

Reviews of these say they are prone to cracking and breaking. What has your experience been? Otherwise they look fantastic :)

Boge 2 ohm cartos are pretty solid. I'd tend to go with what others suggested, bump the nic for a bit, particularly if you have craving points -- first wake up, immediately after a meal, etc.

Taste buds tend to bounce a lot for a while. You can expect to hit some occasional dead days where nothing other than a strong menthol or cinnamon flavor comes through. Nature of the beast, it happens, save some cruddy liquid to vape on those days (since you can't taste it :) )

If you did like tobacco, perhaps try vapor4life (V4L) Kamel or Dunhall -- those are pretty strong tobacco flavors. V4L constantly runs sales -- check the pay it forward Deals and Steals thread to see the latest things that members have posted (my sig has a link to PIF).

Good luck! (I smoked 37 years, stopped when I got a decent tobacco eliquid at the right strength for me. I used 24 mg for months, in the last few months have dropped to 20 and 18 mg/ml, likely do 16 next month.)

Hated them, every single revision of them. Taste great 1 hit, burnt tire taste the next.

Lot of people vape differently then they smoked. I noticed when i started that I couldn't get a "quick fix" with ecigs. I just kept vaping, almost constantly to keep the cravings at bay. I smoked 3 packs a day and always had a cig in my mouth. I vape the same way. If I stop for a few hours, I have to vape hard, real hard to play catch up. I started with 36 mg juice, but after my taste buds came back alive in month number 6 I had to drop the nic level down because it made the juice I mix too bitter. I can craft a heavenly mix and ruin it when i add the nic back in. A perfectly crafted juice goes a long way towards making chain vaping easier.

Would like to add that I never wanted to quit smoking, just wanted the people off my back. Its been over a year now and I don't ever plan on quiting vaping. Process might be different for those trying to quit. In my mind I quit smoking, everyone got what they wanted.

Now let me enjoy this new coil I made for my Iatty, find the sweetspot voltage for it, and enjoy a cup of coffee while I decide if it was the tobacco absolute or tobacco extract I put it this current mix that is rockin mah vape!

I personally think that once you quit the analogs you wont find anything missing. Cigarettes are just better and more satisfying, so in my experience I could not do both at the same time, which is what I tried to do on my first attempt. A few months later I tried a second attempt and what I did was quit smoking cigarettes for a couple days before I picked up my vaporizer. To me the vaporizer worked at that point because I was really strongly set in my mind that I was going to quit this time, so the vaporizer was a hero to me and kept me from going nuts. I no longer compared it to the cigarettes, it was merely something to help me survive without cigs. For me once the cigs were gone for a while I slowly forget about the better aspects of cigs and only remember the negative ones. At this point the idea of having a cig doesnt really appeal to me because all that goes through my head are how nasty they are.

Also, Im not sure I could have done it without my pipe. I love how it fits in my hand, I hold on to it most of the day. For some reason a pipe is just so much more real to me compared to the rivas, egos, bombshells and so on. I think the pipe is partially what helped me make it happen in the end.

If this post is nonsense to you I understand, we are all very different when it comes to this stuff. Just ignore it and up the mg to something higher like many have suggested, I think that might also help, but it sounds strange to use chantix at the same time to me.

I started ecigs & smoked a few analogs in the beginning. I smoked for 45 years, mostly menthol. I had worked my way down from two packs a day from high nic to 1 pack a day of lights. what I do now, I have a ecig battery with a carto with a 12 mg fruity juice (currently Margerita) & another with 24 mg Menthol. I use the Menthol the times I need the Menthol taste & the nic it has. The times I just need to minslessly vape, I use the Margerita or whatever my fruity juice of the day is. I change it up to keep it interesting. I have not had an analog in three weeks, but I still like the smell of people smoking. NJ law says I gotta go out with the smokers. I'll consider myself off of analogs when I no longer like the smell of analogs.

I suggest that you try the two different juice, 1 high nic & 1 lower, even if they are both Menthol. Hit the high when you NEED it & hit the low when you are just mindlessly vaping. Get off the analogs, then reduce the nic. Trying to do too much at once leads to possibly failing. Sorry this is long & hopefully doesn't sound preachy. Good Luck

All the recommendations given are solid. It hurts nothing to try. While you are trying to find whats right for YOU, make sure to include some dual coil cartomizers. They will give a much warmer vape, but at the cost of about 20% loss of battery life. For me, I can live with that. I have 11 Rivas, so I just use one after another. When they go bad, its only $12 from Liberty Flights to replace them.
Battery life is the ONLY reason people say to not use LR on the fat batts. It wont blow up on you for it.

Agree with the dual coil recommendation. I also recently switched to Ego Mega Dual Coil Cartomizers. They look like a big stogie on the Ego, worth it for the performance. Lots of people are having to reduce their nic level with these puppies...personally I went from 24 mg to 12 mg. Had no choice, getting bad nic OD on 24 after three months of it with no problem. Warm vape and holds about 4 ml at a time, and very hard to burn. Get one from Madvapes and give it a try - they are 2.50 each. Good luck, you are just beginning your vape journey.
