my fiancee's itaste will no longer accept a charge. :(
is there a fix for this?
perhaps the charging port or just the charger is bunk. has anyone tried to charge from the ego threading on an itaste? how about using a cell phone charger to charge it? im hesitant to try either of these methods, but we're getting desperate.
anyone with any advice, please help. thanks.

A cell phone charger should be fine to test out that possibility. I don't think an Ego charger will work, and could cause damage. If the cell charger is of no help, it's either the circuit board, a soldered connection or a dead battery. If it is around a year old, likely the battery is shot. None of these are easily fixed, and it might be best to just order her a new one.

thanks for your help. the device is only 3 months old. i fear that the device is completely dead, but i will try a cell phone charger. thanks again.

This is the downside with devices that have the battery built in... Once the battery goes, your setup is basically done for :p

I'd try the cellphone charger first tho, I'm 99% certain there's no special circuitry in the charger you're using currently so it's all about getting power to the battery to charge it. I know I did this with the iTaste MVP 2.0 since the cord it came with was really short and I didn't feel like kissing the wall to use it while charging and it worked just fine.

i agree. i tried getting her into 18xxx replaceable battery units but she just really enjoys the simplicity and form-factor of vv ego-style devices. perhaps if there were a 14500 VV APV at a decent price she'd consider it. i guess i should start searching.

but anyway the worst part about this whole debacle is that i dont believe the battery to be the source of the problem. i fear its the board, the charging port, or wiring. and ive got absolutely zero qualifications to be fiddling with those types of components.

Hmm... Well, if you can't get it worked out and decide to order another one, make the broken one a learning experience :D Most of the people that know that kinda stuff didn't go to school for it... They just learned from experience (Ok, YouTube probably helps too, but you get the point :p )

And hey, maybe after fiddling with that one you'll fix it and have a backup or learn enough to make your own box mods from scratch!

Were you able to charge it with a phone charger? I had an iTaste VV3 as well and mine started acting really funky and eventually died. I opened it up and saw that one of the wires on the circuit board had come detached. The connections to the board are very weak and a couple drops is enough to break one loose. If nothing else works, I'd suggest opening it up and soldering any loose/broken connections.

I like your attitude! :thumb:

Yes, I am very happy to report that the cell phone charger has solved the issue. :) It's charging right now.
Also, thank you for your advice on repair. I'd have to get a very fine soldering tip though I'd assume.
