Not sure what Imeo uses for the ready-made wires, but I believe the nickel NR wire sold by resellers is 32ga. Back before the ready wires were available, the GG attys would come with a small length each of R and NR wire, which at the time was 34ga nichrome and 32ga nickel, respectively. Perhaps he still uses the same wire for the ready-made, but I don't know for sure

Hmm. It could be 34 still. I measured it over the last weekend and now forget.

3mm is what was originally used on the ithaka. In the metal channels you'll likely have to twist with the wrap to fit in in there. I still use 3mm. But you can also grab some 2 which will lay very nicely. Personally I'd get both. Then you can see the difference and decide for yourself. It's a personal preference. Also thick vg seems to perform better with the 2

I noticed that my Ithaka did not have o-rings on the clear window.
Is this normal?

about to order wick, brand new to wrapping coils. 3mm easy for a first timer?

If you've done your research it's not that difficult to wrap any of the coils. The only trouble I'd see is not having any idea how much resistance wire to use to get what ohms you want. That comes with experience. On the ithaka you need to have that middle wire cut to size for the final resistance you desire. If you're doing a single coil I'd go for about 3.5 to 4 cm of 32 awg in the middle to get you around 1.7ish.

Hi roman0f,

Who wrote that review? I mean, what is his nickname here in ECF? Is it karabas?
(I liked his pictures, so I would like to ask him for his permission / authorization to use his pictures on the GG Wiki)

Thanks :)
Hi Ariel_MX:)
Yes, Karabas from Kiev, Ukraine.
If you do not find it here, leave a comment on website: Ithaka

Yes the larger side of the new nut touches the ceramic

Anyone have trouble with that center nut staying tight? Seems every time I disassemble, its loose. I tighten it pretty darn snug but don't want to break the ceramic. Only.happens when I take it apart though. Has never loosened during use. Not a big deal. Just wondered.

Nope, I screw the center post in fairly tight with needlenose pliers though.. Obviously not super tight, but more than just my fingers.. I was always afraid of cracking the ceramic but I've had no issues with it! It used to come loose when I disassembled my ody but not since tightening with pliers, I believe Bishop and/or Imeo did this in their videos as well, which is where I started doing it.

Ya I did that. Still when I go to put on a new coil that sucker will be loose. Lol. Has to be when I'm unscrewing from the base that o ring must grab it just enough to loosen it or something. Thought about cutting my own rubber washer to put under that nut but hadn't really been a serious issue thus far.
