Somewhere in PA on my Ultra Limited
Sweet Pre-ordered - now the waiting starts. May be answered somewhere else but is there any reason why for a single coil you wouldn't wrap R wire around both wicks and install as an "X" (instead of 1 wrapped wick and 1 unwrapped wick)? Seems to me this could really load the coil area for ultra-LR coils.

This sounds like a good idea, eager to hear if it would work out

I was thinking so trying a single coil around both. Ad some had me turned this idea earlier in the thread. But there was no detailed specifics like you mentioned. Once mine comes in, you can bet I'm going to try several different setups. :)

That may of been me. I explained how I make oval shaped coils in my Odys now. 2 pcs of 3mm wick with a paperclip to make the coil a wide oval. With Ithaka the oval will go horizontal instead of vertical, and both wicks will span the whole length instead of 1 being short at the coil only. I've been using this method for months and I like it the best. I tried all the cotton and cheesecloth materials. They dont last very long. I clean and dry burn my ovals and I get weeks out of each build.

kwalka what do you mean by ovals? I can't picture what you're describing, but I'm interested in trying it!

Instead of round coils, they are oval shaped. 2 pcs of 3mm wick and a paperclip all stacked on top of each other. I wrap my coil around this stack. So they end up about 2mms wids and 4+mms tall. With Ithaka the Oval will sit in the opposite direction so the wicks are side by side, instead on top of each other.

Ohh I see what you're saying. I got 3.5mm wick in the mail yesterday and I actually tried this, but I think the 3.5mm is too thick. For one the coils would touch the mouthpiece when it was screwed all the way in because of how thick it was (I did fix this by pushing it all down into the ceramic, though). And it did work good but it seemed to take longer to start producing vapor.. I ended up just using one piece of 3.5mm wick. In hindsight I wish I unravelled the wick and just made it thinner :p
Next time I will do this again! (Sorry to derail from Ithaka!)

Try 1 3.5mm and 1 3mm. That's the setup I use. :)

3mm for the wick that goes down the channels?
3.5mm is all I have right now so maybe I'll just take a small strand out of the 3.5mm
any other suggestions on what to do with 3.5mm would be great :)
Waiting for CoV to get the 15' of 3mm wick in stock in the meantime

I don't know how you guys do it but it seems to me 3.5mm wick doesn't fit well on Ody or Penny. I mean it takes a lot of pressure to screw the upper connection nut to its place.I use 2mm and localy at the coils another one so 4mm.
You are having 6,5mm (!!!) of wick at the coil! I can't think how this works well with less than 15watts.

I actually use the 3.5 in the channels. You may have to twist the wick slightly tighter as you go in the wraps direction. It's tight yes, but it fits and I usually get it without any fray at all

I usually use 30, sometimes a twisted 32. And it vapes well. I clock it at about 1.3-1.5. About 10w
