Thanks subver. I haven't been impressed with any of the tobacco flavors, Ive tried. I will check it out.

Yeah, it's awesome.. don't expect it to taste like a tobacco cigarette, though (it's better, trust me) - also I hear velvetcloudvapor.com has really good tobacco blends, as well as indigovapor.com. I've had some velvetcloudvapor juices and they are GREAT. A little pricey but absolutely worth it.

Honestly, I didn't like many juices after vaping Boba's Bounty for so long... it was the first juice I used and I stuck with it my whole vaping career. Everything else seemed to taste like perfume and fake like chemicals, I was starting to get nervous.. then Boba's Bounty stock ran out (I think it's better now, though) so I went to DIY and I don't think I can ever go back to buying juice now.

I've been working on perfecting a 3 blend tobacco juice of my own with maple and graham cracker (with many other notes) and it is delicious.. I feel confident I will make something that I will like more than BB eventually.

OK guys I take back what I said a while ago and dual coils are scorching my liquid. I'm using a DIY juice that hase a tobacco absolute and some graham cracker, cinnamon cherry and the like, subver you know what juice I'm talking about. So at dual coils its driving me crazy. I made 2 at 3 ohms so that it stays in the normal range bit still it seems the count of heat is making my wicks go black instantly and feel I'm vaping charcoal. No flavor is preserved at all. Can anyone suggest anything? Subversive did you notice difference between single and dual in your maple liquid? maybe if we had 2 thermally isolated ceramics Lol (new idea for imeo)

Hmm weird, aal. I assume you mean SloHand #7? :p
Maybe it's something in that juice?

I've been vaping duals at about .6-.7ohm - I haven't really noticed any negative effects.
As for my maple that I'm using.. unfortunately it does gunk up my coils fast but that's it. I've been "accidentally" using a maple flavor that has REAL maple in it, so I'm assuming the sugars are gunking the coils up. I have a new maple that will hopefully work (Capella Pancake Syrup)

I actually haven't really vaped the SH#7 much, it was way too cinnamon flavored for me.. I might trade it to someone in DIY unless you want it? It will probably just go to waste with me.

Anyway, no idea how that could be scorching your liquid/coils - especially at 1.5ohm! - do you have a multimeter or ohm meter by any chance? What kind of wick are you using?

I typically test my flavors on my single coil Ody and then vape it on my dual coil Ithaka, and it's the same, besides the obvious differences between single and dual.

I'm sure of the ohms no problem there. Yeah it is SH#7 and SH#8 both. I even tried at 5 watts. Even tried dry burning first. It is an X dual 3mm imeo wicks and 33 Kanthal. My single coils are fine. I read once that people with Vanilla Custard are having the same problem.

Hmm interesting, I do have Capella's Vanilla Custard and even use some in my current recipe (not a main ingredient though), but the only problem I've had is fast gunking coils (I get like 3 days or so out of a setup with my juice, not terrible)

Also, single vs dual (ohm for ohm) - I wonder how much hotter are the dual coils getting? I always thought it was about the same, but that there was more surface area to heat on duals, leading to more vapor? I guess I'm not really sure about that, though.

And is it just that juice, or all juices?

It is not only single coils it is my duals as well. Most of the time it is the sugars in the sweet flavors as the caramelize on the wick due to the coil heat.
My Grants Vanilla Custard, honey flued and dark tobaccos turn my silica/eko wicks black quickly. The only solution is to disassemble your Ithaka and rinse the wick off occaisionally (I also have a small tooth brush that I run over the coils under hot tap water) and then dry burn to maintain flavor and a clean wick. I find this with all of my silica and GG atty's. It only takes 3-5 minutes to perform this maintenance when I am refilling my 4-5th tank. It's the price we pay and a cheap price compared to smoking! :)

Idaho what I am saying is my duals turn black instantly. Not when the tank finishes or anything. The bad flavor starts with the first drag.

I thought that too but it turns out not. That is why I'm correcting myself. It seems the overall heat burns up everything. Plus in an X configuration the wick gets attacked from both coils.

The wick turns black instantly...hmmm. I also am using dual X coils with GVC and do not have that issue. It is a beautiful taste for me and no different than my Ody, UFS, or in a SnP with Diver.
I am out of ideas.
Are you using a multi meter to check ohms on each coil and remembering to divide by 2 for accurate ohms?
Juice flow maybe with the thicker juices?

You know, After setting up coil and checking for a nice even glow, you can load the wick up with juice and only put the bell on to check/vape for flavor/taste before assembling the rest of the Ithaka right?

or just go back to parallel dual coils?

Velvet Cloud is one of my favorite juice vendors. I've spent about two Ithakas' worth on their juices (yes, the Ithaka is now a currency unit). Their White Beard is unique. I find all their tobaccos have a similar "style", with different twists in each flavor. Funny, we both like VCV, but I hate Boba's.

VCV White beard is the only juice I can vape in 18mg. This strength always tastes like poison from other vendors. White beard is fantastic in an Ithaka.

Other than VCV mentioned here, I'd try a couple of Ahlusions, see if those appeal. Try Banana Cream Pie, Blueberry Vanilla Cake and Lemon Cream for desserts, and their Smooth Criminal is one of the most highly-rated tobaccos on ECF.

Mom & Pop also makes good juices.

These are the brands I keep in my arsenal along with some Mad Murdocks juices and GCV.

If I move to Greece sometime in the coming months, there's some brands there I'd like to try out - sounds like there are some shops there that are very imeo-like in their adherence to quality and lab-grade perfection.

Anyone else have suggestions? I am open to anything. Not too interested in tobacco flavors, or plain fruit flavors.
Anything more unique or interesting I should try?

Ya I've been debating on running different wicks in there too. I have 2, 3 mm ekowool, xs-116 and xs-118, xc-116, German silica strands and want to try cotton in there too. How's the ekowool working out? Ekowool never wicked fast enough for my low ohm or high voltage needs. I might have been choking it with tight coils though. For now ill just use Imeos 3mm silica and hope it doesn't leak. A few builds in and I'm def willing to try diff wicking material as I don't use silica anymore(use cotton exclusively other than in my gennys).

The ekowool has been holding up for me along with the silica. No trouble with it wicking. I'm currently only running it at 1.4ohms though at 3.7 to 3.8v. I was recently warned against using the nextel wick the xs 116 and 118 due to its unknown safety. I have some but haven't researched it any further to decide if I'd continue to use it or not.

It was probably me that warned against that crap on another thread. If it wasn't, good for whomever did. Although it may wick, it is not safe. Like I always say I'll stick to sucking glass out of Silica and Ekowool. :)

Aalwani sounds to me that your problem may well be juice control. Duals require much more juice feed than singles. I suggest you crank open the juice control and don't wrap your coils very tightly. Try it and see what happens

Well opened all the way captain, but it might contribute to the problem. I will see what i can do maybe try some other builds. Thanks.
