A win is a win. Odd way to win the game, both the tying goal and that knucklepuck winner in double OT (17 yrs ago to the day Greg Adams scored a winner in DOT to go on)...

I was going to take the bike out for a night ride but I'll avoid the mayhem. I can hear it's a nuthouse out there to know I'll just wait...

Now if Boston could pull it off it will be my 2 fav teams going for it in the finals. man I love hockey playoffs. To see Daniel Sedin laying out big hits dropped my jaw a few times haha.. these guys are stick magicians but hitting? love it

I hope not!!! They would have a way better chance against TB, their finesse wouldn't hold up against Vancouver's drive. Taking on Boston's grit would make for an interesting series though...

Go Avalanche!

Oh, wrong decade...sorry:facepalm:

Vancouver was my choice to win it all once the playoffs began. They are just loaded and know how to attack. Good thing Kessler is o.k., losing him would have been rough. My first thought watching the way he was limping off was "Achilles". Good to see him get back out there.

I began watching hockey because of NHL '94 on the Sega and would like to see Canada get a Cup sometime during my hockey loving lifetime. Go Canada!

Avs have 2 :D

This could indeed be the year for Van, after waiting about 35 years for the Blackhawks to finally win the Cup last year I can tell you that having to wait a long time does make it sweeter. At least we put up a good fight, I'd like to see the Nucks finally do it, Boston could give them some real trouble though.

ya but boston has no power play lol.

first series took 7 games, second series took 6, this series took 5 so that must mean a sweep in the finals? ok wishful thinking. This years team is so deep and strong that even the Chicago curse and the President's trophy curse couldn't stop them (most teams winning the prez get knocked out early their first year in playoffs for some reason)

Well I guess if you could call getting outplayed a curse then that would be true :p This year's version of the Canucks were the better team though for once. If we had Bolland for the whole series well maybe things would have worked out differently, as we were 3-1 with him in the lineup and 0-3 without him. Anyway Van won it fair and square although I'd still like to see someone take out Torres with a stiff cross check to the face. Best of luck though in the finals :)

I played for many hockey teams and built a few. you always need someone like Torres. I had Rick, or Dan. Those guys had skills with the puck but just had more fun getting under the other teams star player's skins. especially dan. rick would actually go if you asked him, dan would just skate away and players chased him around the rink... I played goal. I don't get the goalies today sometimes. I mean puck in the head and they act like they've been shot with a gun. unless it hits flat on the side it doesn't hurt. seriously.

I used to wear a cloutier style mask. I had played mostly roller hockey and used to head the puck all the time. I was playing ice hockey and headed a shot down about 5 mins into a game. it hurt and dazed me. I reached down, grabbed the puck, handed to the ref and he says holy crap, you are bleeding. I look down and my jersey is soaked in red. hmm. pull off my mask to see about a 5 inch crack. I have a serious scar and it cracked my skull too LOL. no medic on duty to stitch me up so packed the mask with paper towels to stop the blood flow and said game on. I finished the game. went out and bought an itech sr profile next day. the first time I took one off the noggin with that one, I was looking through a crowd, a guy jumped to the side as I was trying to look under his arm. ciought me in the firehead. hard shot. I fell back into the net from the impact, which allowed me to see the puck bounce off the rafters in the ceiling. hard shot. felt nothing. then I felt invincible haha.

I used my head to deflect pucks all the time. I did it at an all star skills competition to the hardest shot in the league. div 1 stuff. he could shoot over 100mph on radar. that was funny. five shots from 15feet out rapid fire. fist he went right toe. I saved it. second he went left toe, I was in splits and kicked it out but now down. tried to go over my right shoulder, headed it. he went over left shoulder, I headed it. he laughed shaking his head saying you are wacked dude. finally put the last one by me.

To be fair, Pipeous, he's right. ALL goalies are a little off-center. :p The fact that you WANT to stand in front of objects doing 100 mph is proof of that!

As for the game - yeah, heckuva a way to lose, but I'm glad it's the nucks. I'd have been pretty choked if Heatley had gotten another chance. Of course, with his case of Sharkitis, I'm not sure he'd have been a factor in game 6 or 7 anyways.... guess Jumbo Joe was contagious.

Well it's a lot of fun stopping pucks and as a matter of fact it's a lot less dangerous than being a skater, getting your head bashed into the boards doesn't sound like a lot of fun to me, in addition to all the other rough stuff. It's not that goalies don't get run into and all that but at least we're better protected against both pucks and fools who invade our crease. That's one of the reasons we carry a big stick by the way.

I will say that the masks are a lot better these days than the piece of plastic we used to wear over our face, hurt like hell to take a shot to the mask, but nowhere near as crazy as not wearing one at all, which goalies did for years. Now THAT's crazy :)

Goons do serve their purpose at times I agree, but the other team isn't going to love them either :)

my oldest brother was one of those fools to play goal without a mask. and yup his bottom teeth are all held in with a bridge hehe.

I've broken ribs, got a funny looking collarbone, broken fingers, seperated shoulder, dislocated shoulder, done acl and mcl, hamstring, achilles tendon, even had a rib dislocated being jumped on (still fighting that one, I have to go in for surgery someday as there is no cart left to hold it in anymore and it pops out regular)

worst shots to the head I got were from my own players. though my worst injuries came while poke checking. I got a player's skate caught in my trapper when he fell and whipped me around and my neck hit the post from behind. I was all dizzy the rest of the game. went home ate etc. went to bed and woke up my face stuck to the pillow. my nose bled all night and I couldn't get out of bed for 4 days. worst concussion I ever got (had 4 and why I retired from hockey). proud to say I finished every game I ever started, injured or not. I even got scouted for the voodoo and went to a "practice/drop in" I didn't know I was being scouted for. got a call they needed a goalie for some workout thing and I had time so why not. turned out the guy shooting these torpedos was the coach. the team got folded by orca bay (I hate orca bay and glad they are gone from sports around here)

ahh yes. the fun of long delays in between games. I think the only 2 players ready to go tonight were the goalies. both teams played bad hockey and them puck heads played awesome both sides bailing out their players. I do think the score was closer than it looked out there. there was ringing metal behind thomas about 5 times. van lost hamhuis tonight early. looks like he blew his knee. lucich is a big boy to send head over heels though. soft penalties all around for a playoff final.... vancouver doesn't mind. boston can't score on the power play to save their lives, but vancouver didn't look much better on the power play themselves. seems they took a penalty as soon as they got on the power play each time. midnight and it's finally quited down out there. just did 6 graveyards after 2 months off work, a little loopy right now haha
