Hey guys, I haven't been on here in quite a while, a few family issues to take care of. I bought a couple regular automatic batteries back in March. I charged them both (until the light turned green)...So I go to take a drag and the battery just keeps blinking like the battery was dead. So I decided to charge them up again, the light turned green and same thing happened. Is the battery done? How long should these batteries last? Are they still under warranty? Thanks for your Help.

Faaar outside of warranty. And easily what I'd expect their service life to equate to.

A 3-4 months service life doesn't seem like much to me. One of the shortie autos I got back in February has a bit of a shortened "hang time" on a charge, but otherwise the other two are holding up really well. But with all things electronic, I suppose YMMV.

And of course I probably just jinxed myself.

Those were a different generation of batteries.

But even that generation can't be expected to hold-up for more than 4months.

Which means you paid about $0.13 / day.

And on the average, about $1.20/day for juice.

$1.33/day.

Taking the national average for a pack of cigarettes into account, and assuming that you smoked an average pack a day, you saved something close to $662.40

So buy another battery...

I wasn't registering a complaint, just relating my own, slightly different, experience. Batts are going to perform on either side of the average, but I agree that after that long, they don't owe me anything.

I'm still using batteries that are 8 months old and they're working great - but they were great from the beginning. I have had a few bad batteries along the way that behaved like you're describing. I returned them and got replacements.

I've been gone a while so normally I would ask Val what she thinks but I guess she's not working the CS anymore? No big deal, I don't smoke a pack a day but I need to order some refills and I will just put in an order for a couple of regular manual batts. I used the Autos before and this will be a good reason to try the Manuals. Thanks.

I was wondering when you say you've been gone awhile, meaning..you bought those batterys 3/2010 then didnt use them so they've been just sitting with whatever charge they came with and now they wont hold a charge ?
What type are they..510's, 808's, 14500, etc.?

Im just trying to understand cause most time (cell phone batterys,flashlights) will hold a charge for many months as long as they are not in use. Were they attached to the cig or stored separately ?

Have you checked them for voltage with a multimeter ?

Sorry should of been more clear....it's been a while since I've been on this site. Been using the batteries daily since 3/10 and everything seemed fine until I charged them last and then when I go to take a drag...the LED just keeps blinking even though it shows fully charged.

I would suspect the charger is the problem moreso than believing that two batteries have suddenly bit the dust at the exact same time. JM2C.
