I know I've read about this alot... The bad taste of the primer on a new atomizer... But it's really really horrible... I didn't expect it to be so horrible... And for some reason, I can't get it out >.<

I watched a video, it told me to blow thoroughly in one side, then the other and wipe it out with a papertowel, then take 5 puffs without inhaling and it should be fine... I've taken like 30 without inhaling... and it's horrible :(

Is there something else I can do?

You need to put eliquid on the bridge, let it soak in, vape that almost all the way off without inhaling, blow out again, reprime with juice repeat etc until it tastes OK

Don't rub the bridge of your atty w/ paper towel.

Alternately you can run it through with hot water, shake/blow it out, then dry it well. Then prime and let that soak in then try

Dani I feel your pain. I have received attys before with primer in them and, unknowingly, fired them up without cleaning them or blowing them out first. It almost seems like firing them up with primer burns the taste of primer into the coil.

The good news is it does wear off. The above advice does work. If you can rinse the atty with vodka or PGA that seems to work even better than water. Then blow it out (not super blow -- although you may want to because of the frustration LOL) then a short dry burn. Then a few drops of juice (I just use plain PG or VG) and take a few puffs without inhaling.

The other good news is you won't buy attys from that vendor again LOL!

Let us know how you fare.

Could I have burnt it or something? Should I try a new one?
I just ran it under hot water and re-primed with eliquid...
I can honestly say if this had been my first experience with vaping, I would not have quit smoking... It's really that bad... and all I have here are kr808 cartomizers... I figured I'd be fine, even if I didn't prefer cartridges/atomizers, I'd be fine with them until I could order more... pretty sad how let down I am :(

Dani is using a standard Riva kit. I have not had any of my Riva atty's come with a lot of primer. I think any primer she had should have burned off by now. Perhaps the wick is burned. That may account better for her having a strong burning taste.

BTW, I'm in Metairie. We should start a group on here for us Louisiana folk.

I say it again, the way to break in a new Atty is, blow it out first, put a carto condom on the bottom threaded end, fill that Atty up above the bridge with liquid flavor of choice your gonna use to vape in the Atty. set it upright and forget about it for an hour. This will completely prime all the internals of the Atty properly soaking the wick, bridge, all the internals. after it has sat, half our min, pull off condom and blow out that Atty again, now it is ready !

Eaxaclt John Phoenix, this is why my method works perfectly, you burn that wick and it will never be the same as a freshly primed Atty.! period end of story

Just curious...what kind of atty is it? And what batteries are you using it on? Are you dripping with it or using a cart?..

The atty is whatever came with the starter kit... I have no clue what kind it is... I would guess it's a standard one, if there is such a thing? And I'm doing both, I guess... I filled the little cartridge with the filler and then dropped 2 drops into the atomizer, after I had blown it out thoroughly... Maybe I'm doing it wrong??

This is the kit I got:
Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510

I didn't buy any extra equipment... wanted to be sure I like the cart/atomizer set up before I put too much money into it... not leaning in that direction at the moment, although the concept still seems awesome to me...

Ok, then, if youre using the cart on the atty, it will taste burnt if its not getting the liquid wicked to it....make sure the top of the filler is good and damp with liquid and it's pulled up flush with the top of the cart before you push it onto the atty...I've squished the filler foam in too far before and got the burning....

If youre direct dripping into the atty, 3 or 4 drops is about all it can take I'm my experience...less than 3 may taste burnt after a drag or 2... But more than 4 can flood it...

Also, thick dark liquids can sometimes clog up attys...but it sounds like you've cleaned the heck out of this one...

You could try a different one, just to see...

Good luck with it...you'll figure it out...
