vaping for a mere 4 days now.
I had read all the chatter about how once you start vaping you'll never want to put a cigarette in your mouth again. I had read over and over that you start breathing easier after day one. I had read that you start feeling better. I had read all kinds of positive hoobajoo about the ecig. Holy moley it all seems to be true. Bare in mind I've only been off analogs and on a PV for 3 and a half days, but here are my first thoughts/impressions:
I recently stopped smoking for 7 days cold turkey. After 3 days with a tight chest I started breathing easier and feeling better. Problem was I was going thru nasty, nasty withdrawal (worst ever. I've quit before but this time it was extreme). Today is day 4 of no analogs and vaping with MV Sideshow. All the positives of quitting smoking and ZERO withdrawal symptoms. I feel great!
The difference between smoking X cigarettes and vaping X cigarettes worth of juice is NIGHT AND DAY. Last night I went a little over board (discovered dripping and the finer points of getting consistent, tasty draws so got a little excited). I also had a good few drinks. This morning I woke up feeling astonishingly good. Had I have smoked the equivalent amount of analog cigarettes I'd be haggard today. Haggard. I've always called cigarettes "doublers" as in they double a hang over. (Seemingly) not so with PV.
There is a HUGE difference between taking in almost exclusively nicotine and whatever it is that you take in when you smoke a cigarette. The "buzz" is really pleasant and the after math is nigh nonexistent. Personally I find coffee to be a way more pronounced body load than vaping.
I'm feeling way less fanatical about vaping than smoking. Surely I've got the glow of finding a new, cool gadget and ritual, and surely I'm indulging in an addictive drug, but somehow I'm very relaxed. It feels very similar to being completely rehabilitated from smoking. I'm almost certain that once all the crud has cleared out of my system, letting go of nicotine altogether would be way, way easier than quitting cigarettes directly.
I'm not a chemist and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night but I would almost put money down that there are some kind of chemicals in analogs who's purpose are to augment/enhance/amplify our nicotine dependence. As I type this I feel like I "could" have a vape whereas if I were still on analogs I'd be either feeling like I "must" have a smoke or I'd be literally counting down the minutes until my next one.
Lastly I'm almost certain that even if e-cigs disappear, I'm never going back to analogs. Somehow the experience of drawing on a device as though it were a cigarette and getting almost exclusively nicotine and nothing else has shattered the idea of ever going back. I'd just as soon eat a feces sandwich.
