Increasingly we are seeing proposed legislation to include electronic cigarettes in the bans against indoor smoking. Typically the justification section of the proposed bill states that electronic cigarettes contain carcinogens and antifreeze. (For a discussion of how the FDA's disinformation caused these false accusations to come about, see: The Truth About Nicotine: June 2010)

We have many lab reports that show the liquid does not contain any potentially harmful substance in large enough quantities to present a danger to human health. CASAA.org

But to combat these accusations that bystanders might be harmed by the vapor, we desperately need an indoor air qualtity study conducted by an expert in the field.

A group of activists from The Consumer Advocates for Smoke-Free Alternatives Association (CASAA), National Vapers Club, Right to Vape, and Midwest Vapers Club formed the Vapers Coalition.

The Vapers Coalition has made arrangements for the study to be conducted, The study is being conducted by a respectable, reliable and dependable consulting firm that specializes in indoor air quality/environmental tobacco smoke. Several tests will be conducted regarding the use of two of the most popular e-cigarettes brands and e-liquids used. Results obtained from the measurements will then be put into an indoor air quality model to estimate the impacts of the use of the different brands and e-liquids, taking into account various air exchange rates and room volumes for estimating worst case scenarios and overall impacts of the indoor air quality. Results from this research will help us show that indoor e-cigarette use does not pose a health risk to bystanders.

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED

CASAA now has a special page dedicated for the purpose of making donations to the IVAQS research project. CASAA.org

There is a link to the IVAQS donations page on the CASAA Home Page. Actually, there are two.
