Okay guys. I can DIY, mod my own atties, mod my own cartos... next I want to make my own PV mod, but need some input before I go throwing money into something I really can't afford to throw away. Also, I do not want to buy parts from a PV/Mod company or some pre-prepped mod to put together yourself. I'm fairly incline with soldering, making my own halloween props for years. So with that said I have some images and specs and would like to know if you think this would make a working PV or FAIL.

1368-3.jpg

Size: 8.5 x 2.3 x 2.3cm
Operating voltage: 4.5V
Powered by 3 x AAA batteries
Rear On/Off Switch (which will be modded as a side button)
Water resistance design

Now my questions:

Will this work?
I think it will with a good design.

I am wanting to make a 3.7V or as close to as I can... what style of battery (cuz I was originally going to do a 3.7V 14500 900mah TF with PCB) but that won't work being it holds 3 AAA. What batteries would mock that of 3 AAA's and give me a good 3 - 4V power?

My plan is to make it run like my eGo @ 3.7V with a 510 setup. Please don't just guess, because like I said I need to know FOR SURE there is a battery out there that mocks a AAA and can provide 3.7v-ish with the 3 batteries combined. or if there's 1 BIG battery that would fit this battery chamber... I would be willing to mod the spring for 1 honking battery as well. as long as it doesn't give me HV... I enjoy my 3.7V vaping :)

If you need any other information to help me further, Please, ask.

Thanks!

No, I do not know if the top comes off as well, but I assume it does, so you can get to the LEDs
I'm a huge fan of ebay for things under 3.00 (including shipping), so if you think I can find something else whether it's flat or round or odd shaped that would make great for a mod, let me know.

This one is only 1.09 + free shipping. LOL
And I'm trying to stay under 12.00 with ALL parts

Does anyone have any good links to making those RCA battery to 510 connectors? I have a few bookmarked, but don't go hard core into detail about it, just some random pics. Style doesn't matter as long as it's cheap and will house a 510 atty or carto. Thanks!

And there's also this one. That might hold my original idea of (1) 3.7V 14500 900mah battery

02-6.jpg

designed with pocket size, light light and quite easy to carry
ON/OFF press button at the end of the Torch.
Powered by: 1x AA battery
Size:9.6cm X 2.1cm X 2.1cm
Weight: 20g.

Would this work for a single 3.7V mod? or better to go with my OP? Cuz I really want a 3.7V PV I can call my own.

This one is 1.42 + free shipping

I might wind up making both but still need to know if both will work and provide a 3.7V vape with the right TrustFire Batteries.

Just because the first one takes 3 AAA cells doesn't mean you can't use a single 18500 Li-ion PROTECTED cell. A little bit of insulation as a sleeve and you have a no rattle fit.
Get really serious and fit a 18650 cell in it. The second one a single 14500 cell. Both have been done, search for flashlight mods in this forum. Side switch will take up some room so maybe the 18650 is out. Here's an example of a .... switch 18650 flashlight.

Totally awesome. that mod top looks like a drilled out coin. heheheh

TY for ur input and I'll try digging some more. I get lost in this forum sometimes, ha :p Well I could just leave a bottom switch on the 1st one, cuz 2 PCS Trustfire 18500 1800mAh 3.7V Protected Battery for 8.88 isn't sounding bad AT ALL def better than a 14500 900mah for sure!!

I think my question has been answered, but more tips or pointers to 3.7V mods would be GREAT.

It's a "washer" that only "looks" like a state quarter. Are you ordering you flashlights from China? If so you have plenty of time to study flashlight mods. Do a search for flashlight in this forum and see what you get. I like this type of mod (I also only do 3.7 volts) because the front end is much stronger than the .... end. The switch can be made into a momentary. The switch housing comes out toward the front but the switch itself comes out the back of the plastic switch housing. Like makes a 1/2 inch low pressure blow hole. Add some little vent holes in the switch housing just because.

Wooden dowel or 1/2 inch extension will knock the entire led assemble out the front. Just set it nose down whack it a good one and the lens comes out of the groove, from there piece of cake. Since you solder you can solder a connector (without insulator) to the back side of the quarter sized washer. I press them in, then solder. You have to pay real close attention to insulation on the inside.

That ought to get your whistle wetted for now :)

TY so much Rocky! I think instead of buying ebay and waiting weeks for a flashlight i'm just going to hit my dollar stores up today and see what i can find and then go from there on as to which battery would be best for it. So I'll prob be posting pics later today of my find, with dimensions to see which battery would be best for it.

So far I'm liking the 14500 idea still :)

yeah my plans are ONLY Protected Batts, well worth the few extra bucks to save face :)

found 2 TF 14500's Protected for 5.99 and 2 TF and UF 18500's for 8.88 Protected of course. But since I already have 3 14500 chargers rated 150mah, 350mah, and 700mah I think imma stick with finding something for the 14500's. Does it matter the mah on my charger as long as it's the same size battery for it? 2 are rated for Li-ion and the other says NI-CD and NI-MH ONLY... would this one be out?? or can i still use it? I also have a usb one somewhere, no clue what it's rated.

I also got a GREAT steal on 2 dead Riva's for parts :D 1.00 PIF, for the cost of shipping. so YAY for extra buttons, battery connectors, and fun-ness :D super geeked for 1.00 :p

I also ordered some 80/20 36g nichrome from ebay while i was at it. Can't go wrong 30 foot for 2.09 :D :D
so if you know anyone needing nichrome have them send me a PM. I won't need 30 foot for atty and carto mods. LOL

I am sooooo geeked to make my 1st PV mod. I've been looking for those RCA to 501, 808, 901 adapter how to's. Done by warped, but i just find posts with pics. you know of a YT vid or link with a how to on how to build those suckers? I'd like to make a few multi ones. But the 3 I found are AFTER pics, not a step by step on how to actually make them. I have a ....-load of RCA cables and multi ports for gaming and am TOTALLY down with making some. Lemme know!

Thanks for all ur help!

+1 for girl modders. I'm def jumping head 1st into this. Tinkering is a GREAT hobby :p

On the chargers: The mAh the chargers are rated for will determine how FAST they will charge your batts...
It absolutely DOES matter which type they are rated for, DO NOT charge your Li-Ion batts in a Ni-Cad/Ni-Mh charger, or vise-versa!

I can't help you with the RCA connector mod, I've never used it, I just get my 510 adapters from goodprophets.com for $1ea...

Ok I did a whole layout. Gonna post pics tomorrow, and make my vid as I build it. The only problem I'll have to do a test run using 4.5V un-rechargable (but protected) batts. And then once I get my 14500's I'll post a full vape test on it. So this prob won't be completed (cuz of the wait on batts) til the end of the month. I'm also going to just buy a new higher mah charger specifically for Li-ions, cuz I'm not trusting the one's I have.

This is what I dropped into it:

Metrix Flashlight 1.99 (Tractor Supply)
2 dead Riva's for parts - mainly for the batt conn. (1.00 for both PIF)
2 x 14500 900mah 3.7V li-ion Protected Batts (ebay 5.99)
Found out I needed new solder and flux, because they weren't lead free
96/4 Silver Lead Free Solder .032" (Radio Shack 3.89)
Lenox Lead-Free Water Soluble Flux (2.89 Lowe's)
push switch for atty (found in my parts bin from an old lazer pointer)
LED and snap-in holder (from parts bin as well)
I'll be using the circuit board from the 9 LED Flashlight

16.00 isn't bad. And I'll be able to make one for my girl and my friend Rach for around 10.00 ea. because I'll already have all basics. Super psyched to get started on it tomorrow!

Gonna check GP out, cuz I've been planning on ordering from Rob, just haven't had the "need" to order any juices or parts.
I'll keep ya'll updated on how progress is going!

Thank You again for all your input! Since I drew out the design and watched that magnum vid. I'm def not going to have ANY issues, just the wait for my batts and charger.

oh crap! i didn't update. I drew my own circuit layout, cuz the one's i've seen confuzzled that crap out of me.

I have all of the wiring done. main shutoff/on is on the bottom of the flashlight. then there's the tactile button to vape up towards the top, with an ULTRA BRIGHT LED (which you can still use when ur on the go and need to find something) I made it closer to the button so you can easily cover it for stealth vaping.

The only thing I need is for my battery connectors and batts to arrive. The batteries aren't going to be here til Christmas... :?: THAT makes me SUPER sad :censored:

I am going to be making more so that all i need to do is finish the top off with a battery connector and add batts.

I'll post pics later. for now there's a glimpse of it in my 6 week update vid...

YouTube - 6 Week (e-cig) PV UPDATE!!!

on my next one's i plan on using smaller less bright lights. LMAO
