I quit smoking just under six months ago, which was two weeks after my mother and step-father started vaping. Now they're back on the cigarettes again "just for the Christmas season". Yeah, whatever. My mother keeps offering me a smoke when I visit with her - more an absent-minded gesture than anything malicious - and I've genuinely found myself just not wanting one. I prefer to vape.

When I started vaping, my GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) was through the roof, just like everyone else's. I spent a fortune, just like we all have. I chased the vapour dragon right down that rabbit hole, just like we all have. I bought tanks, drippers, mech mods, copper mech mods, clones, authentics, rayon, Japanese cotton and even pointless things like extra drip tips. Just like we all have.

Then I bought an iPV3 and discovered the Infinite CLT range of drippers. And then the GAS just stopped. Just like that. I didn't even notice it happening. I gave almost all of my remaining gear away shortly after to intermediate-level vapers who were looking to get into mech mods. I still have my authentic MCV Overdose which I use when I'm out at the pub. I haven't looked at Fasttech for weeks. I appear to have found my sweet spot.

I'm a sub-ohmer. I love big clouds. I make huge clouds. I make them for me, not for "look at me". I build at between 0.15 and 0.25 ohms. I haven't exploded yet. I make my own juice from pre-made flavour concentrates. I've been vaping the same flavour for about two months now. I like it. It goes with just about anything for me. I have 5 litres of it steeping in my cupboard. It's 90% VG based. Big clouds. Big, thick, tasty clouds. Om nom nom. Amazing with a glass of ice-cold full cream milk.

I see people talk about Dr. Crimmy's juices. Or Suicide Bunny. Or Digby's Mum's Custard or whatever else. How they're really great and everyone should try them. Then I see the price tag and compare it to what it cost me to make the aforementioned 5 litres that are in my cupboard. No thanks. You guys go right ahead though; I'm genuinely pleased that you're loving them, and that they're keeping you off the stinkies.

I love vaping. I also feel very lucky to have found my sweet spot. In vaping, it would seem that you definitely need to kiss a few frogs on your way to finding the prince. I haven't "been in the market" for new gear since I got my iPV3 (mine was one of the controversial Liberty Flights ones which I refused to return, btw) and as long as it lasts for another six months or so, I'll be happy.

Merry Christmas, everyone. If you've arrived at the same place I have, I'd love to hear your story.

Anything with a glass of ice-cold full cream milk makes me happy. Oh, vaping, right. I've got lots of gear, not because I was chasing the vapor unicorn, but because I like toys. I got into the habit of rewarding myself every 6 months with something I didn't have, but I'm tired of that now. I've been vaping the same set-up for over a year and, although I rotate, I keep coming back to it.

Nice! I really hope to get there one day. I'm still super tempted by box mods and various RDAs and tanks. I also just got hooked onto the permium juices and am trying to find a cheaper substitute. Part of it is trying to find a good setup for my needs and part of it is just really loving to experiment and tinker.

Have you looked into bottom feed? It is what stop my search for a better tank.

Very well said and Merry Christmas to you! I'm at the same place as you and the journey was very similar with the exception of small details. I love watching the clouds too. There is something meditative about it. I am not a sub-ohmer. Every time I try below 1.0 its just too hot for me but I am for whatever works for people and what I do works for me. I've been there for about a year now. I add new stuff rarely when I want it but it I'm not chasing the shinies any more.

Congrats, xibxang - I'm happy for you. My stable end state was achieved with the use of a reo. I used to pop into noob threads to offer advice on this device or that tank, but now that I'm out of the "current fashion" loop, that scene has left me behind to contentedly vape in peace.

Agreed! Since I've gotten two Reos and use both everyday I don't really use anything else. I may fill up a Protank 2 or Aerotank for my istick every now and then when I'm out and about., but my 2 Reos is where I'm happiest!

I don't even worry about the new fangled device or topper anymore!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone,
I myself am still in the market for gear, not so much like I used to be. I've dreamed sweet candy filled dreams of a mechanical electronic box mod. Seems the IPV3, SMY and Kamry have hit the mark on that.
Being a totally broke post grad college student limits my GAS and seeing as I don't chase the mythical vapor unicorn there is no need to run "High Volt, Low ohm" mods for me, my ball and chain is flavor over vapor.
As for making Juice I myself never did, I lack a teacher and blindly wandering without a flashlight can be (often times is) dangerous.
I hope to hit contentment, and not beyond ask for nor receiving any gifts of good will as it is. Currently I do pay it forward as I know how to build coils, with over 200 builds under my belt for every imaginable mod out there and every coil type invented its done for free, a hobby as it were. I do know regardless of what happens I will always pay it forward for those coming in with that wanderlust of building and finding their vape nirvana.

I too have reached my happy point...I have aquired 2 Provari's and learned how to rebuild Kayfuns. Got 5 of those.

I have also learned how to rebuild Protank heads. So now when i catch a sale of something I am already using I usually will go ahead and get it if its a good deal. But it goes into the drawer until whatever i have tears up.

Merry Christmas to all, and I wish you all the very best.

I was lucky, and found my "sweet spot" very quickly. (I had help) So my quest quickly turned to finding more efficient ways to get what I already wanted. So I'm very content with what I have now, and haven't bought anything for almost a year. (My friends at the B&M see that as a problem)

you pretty much summed that up. the only thing i chase now is the infinite variety of my DIY liquids. i have 3 all day recipes with at least one variation each which are all better tasting to me than anything i can purchase regardless of the price tag. it takes about 2 months tweaking to get one just right so by the time i get nine distinct flavors i'll have another year in not smoking. life is good.
    Merry Christmas all.

Unless your post grad work is in basket weaving, you'd have no trouble DIY with juice.

When I got my first Kayfun, I thought I had found nirvana. Then I got another one, because that does seem to be true -- I don't waste time looking at clearos anymore. I've also been very happy using a cartotank, but I think that might be, very slowly, passing. Any further tanks I get will almost certainly be some type or version of a Kayfun, though. And perhaps, a magma at some point; I hear they're very good for flavor rather than the cloud-chase thing.

As for mods... well I don't scream "I gotta have it!" with every one I see anymore... but I still look at them, and have my eye on a couple -- another mech, gotta get a Galileo at some point, and probably a Vamo 6 -- but I don't feel any urgency about acquiring either one. And oh yeah, maybe a Billet Box for my vaperversary next year.

Since I've started getting more serious with DIY, I don't spend hours perusing ejuice sites. I find one sometimes that might be worth a try.. but then, yeah, I compare the price to what DIY costs, and usually close the site at once.

I'm pretty much content with vaping as I'm doing it right now. There might be room for some improvement, and I definitely like shiny new toys, but I don't feel the need to get it done and/or purchased by next week. :D
